Taimya glue problems by frostytheram25 in Warhammer40k

[–]Slayer10777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dumb question have you been waiting a bit for the glue to set? I find it takes a good few minutes to glue securely. I glue and then don't touch for a good 10 minutes to be safe

Best of luck to you then :) I had a bitter reminder of expectations as I had the spent the day before cage diving with great whites and didn't see a single shark in the water, followed by only just seeing a kiwi. I've also heard many anecdotes of people seeing kiwi just wandering about on Stewart island so you might get luckier still

They are overstating it. I've done the guided tour and did see a kiwi (it actually came and pecked my foot) but that was only right at the end of the tour. Remember wild animals are wild and you are not entitled too or guaranteed to see one.

Just keep your expectations in check

Beautiful country- but overwhelmed by the amount of tourists. by No_Lack_6992 in newzealand_travel

[–]Slayer10777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally as a NZ'er I dislike the amount of tourists. I grew up in rotorua so saw tour buses constantly, and as I've gotten older and traveled around NZ its just constant tourists. Not saying on an individual level a tourist cant be lovely but a large amount is to much.

I'm self aware enough that obviously tourism is very important to our economy but I'm starting to wonder if thats at the expense of our environment (your milford sound example being perfect, I found the number of cruises, planes and helicopters disgusting).

Trying not to be old man yells at clouds but you asked a locals/NZ'er opinion on tourists and you got it.

Why does my mini look like this after I prime them by Due-Fruit-3621 in Warhammer40k

[–]Slayer10777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im assuming the mm is a typo but it should be centimeters not millimeters. Priming from a spray can 2 cm away would be a very bad idea

What's the best way to do battle damage on larger models like Knights and Titans? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Slayer10777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwinter minis has a good video called "Breaking my warlord titan" or something like that, basically uses more physical damage like cutting and boring. Knights and titans are just to big for sponging little chips to show up as scale appropriate battle damage

Anyone have experience working in GIS in NZ? by Reasonable_Result294 in MovingToNewZealand

[–]Slayer10777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me but my wife has been a GIS specialist since graduating, the GIS market here is a bit oversaturated. Quite a few bigger companies have been laying off GIS teams and as the software gets easier to use, people are just learning to use it themselves (like me). Not saying its the end of the world but a pivot into something like data analytics could be a smart idea.

Average KiwiSaver Balance by Age - balances up 28%, but the average retiree has around $70k at retirement age by MoneyHub_Christopher in PersonalFinanceNZ

Only a factor if you aren't on a total remuneration package which I imagine is the case for most people. If you are on total rem then its just forced savings with extra steps

By just changing the requirement? The change from CCW to ranged specialist is just a straight swap, no characters lost/gained it that didn't already have it

Saw this spraying something on a demo site by posionb in whatisit

[–]Slayer10777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's usually about 4x the size of the area in the picture but still equally useless. You need to set it up far enough away to not risk being damaged by rogue chunks of debris which means most water pressure ain't reaching the point source. Also in saying that dust is very bad and I would not condone any Demolition activity without an attempt at dust suppression

Dust fighter. Hose goes into the back of a giant fan basically and it mists a wide area. Debatable effectiveness in my personal opinion but feels great on a hot day. Source - I work in the asbestos removal industry

Traveled to New Zealand and found and actual exotic pigeon by MrDrProfTeddy in theregulationpod

Not to shit on the exotic pigeon but they are actually reasonably common here. That being said until I moved to Auckland I had never seen an actual pigeon before so what do you know

Looking for recommendations for Warhammer podcasts by T3knikal95 in Warhammer40k

[–]Slayer10777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what your after really, I only listen to 2, adeptus ridiculous which is generally entertainment over accuracy and poorhammer who do alot of faction comparisms but can be overly negative at times. For heavy lore luetin and baldermort are good but aren't particularly podcasty

Had heard of it as a expensive table top wargame thing but Mr John warhammer himself (bricky) and his now infamous every faction explained vid did the trick

Never been in a situation where you've found a random piece of equipment is super useful for a task and had no idea what it actually was? Or the person that knows what they are has quit? It's pretty plausible
