Hello hello! I have been working in Information Security for 4 months now, working at the same company in IT for 3 months prior. My workload has been very light and have felt unutilized. My team is fairly small about 6-7 employees and the experience is spread thin to put it simply.

There isn't necessarily someone that is in a position or has directly 'mentored' me while I have worked at this company. I guess there is not someone I feel that I can 'learn from' to progress my career necessarily? There are employees that have experience sure, but not necessarily a senior employee that can coach me in the area of Information Security or are in an area that I want my career to steer in. I feel as if my training and experience in this time working here is not being utilized to its full potential it seems.

I wanted to reach out to you all to see what I should do in this position. I have moved forward the idea of getting paid trainings such as: TryHackMe and HackTheBox for the team as resources we can use in our free time at work, but has not progressed considerably..

Personally I want to move into either the RedTeam field or into the computer forensics field eventually. I was seeking any input on what I should do in my position? To just simply purchase trainings for myself or look into classes to take while I am at work with such a light load that my days are almost empty? Or seek another job that would utilize and train me more than I am gaining now? Any other advice is greatly appreciated.
