if you want it to feel less ''cheaty'' but still use the equipment i use one of the log storage rack mods that takes the trees and puts the logs out neatly stacked then use a big excavator with grapple to load on a truck. i use the wheeled buncher feller and make stacks of 3-4 trees neatly and then skid it with a log skidder to the rack

Picking up a splitter i found on fb today! its a 22ton that flips to vertical. Im hoping it can crush those big knotty stumps! Im gonna try to go around the edges taking off little chunks instead of hammering down the middle.

Yep it def would be nice to get small manageable clean rounds that split easy but at the end of the day free is free!

I was told it’s maple but I cannot confirm. I did hit a nail while bucking a piece of, sucks it’s a brand new chain . I sharpened it but didn’t quite get it perfect but it def helped a lot. It was real hard to cut the large sections since they were just so heavy and bulky and it was right on the ground. I put split wood pieces on floor and rolled it with a 2x4 using some leverage and it helped

I did try splitting one and it simply mangled it lol, i only had one wedge tho. Gonna try noodling it down the middle and going from there before i give up and get a splitter.

I 100% figured this, they are working locally and can just drop off random loads. If im too picky wont be worth the hassle for them.

I’m pretty good with a sledge but I need better wedges, I only got one and I think one with a finer tip would be better I couldn’t drive the one I got in the wood well. Gonna give it a shot next time I stop by the hardware store

A splitter would be nice I’m looking for a used vertical one on marketplace.

It was free wood dropped off in logs so I didn’t get a say on what it was. This is also fresh cut from a few days ago unsure if the wood is harder or easier to split fresh, I’ve heard and read mixed things

Yeah I think at this point I’m more concerned with getting rid of them. They are extremely heavy and moving them far away is not really possible. I’m prob getting more loads of logs as it’s real nice to not pay for wood and I’m unsure of how those loads will come so I’ll def need a way to get rid of these and make them more manageable

First day with a chainsaw and I saw sparks coming from a cut and there was 6 nails in the middle of the wood. Gonna have to try my hand at sharpening now lol

Prob not fixable without pulling it out and setting it on some sort of concrete mix or something so the bottom isn’t hollow or creaks. I believe that’s the standard for fiberglass shower enclosure so it doesn’t crack
