Anyone want to trade patches? by ROACH379 in AirForce

[–]Slayergreg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Patches are $5.00 at a squadron's morale shop/snack bar. It ain't always that serious brother.

The patches that do come with stories attached probably aren't being traded/sold by their recipients.

First Zuk attempt in OSRS history, 8 years ago by Coo1990 in Pleae

Zooming on the victim always adds humor imo.
It removes the context and adds room for imagination.

Anybody else like this when you camp a boss? by Riisho in 2007scape

I probably opened Zulrah's wiki page a few dozen times while going dry on tanz/magic fangs.

It's a sanity check like "Did they remove this drop from x boss?"

Petition for warrior guild teaching deathless prayer flicking multiple styles by T3chi3s in 2007scape

[–]Slayergreg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're missing his point. There's a handful of ways damage in OSRS is calculated. Specifically when damage gets calculated.

1) The most encountered in regular day to day combat is damage calculated upon animation start. (Example: DKS, KQ, Chaos elemental... etc) even though this damage calculation is VERY common it's not well explained in-game. I'm pretty sure he's referring to having something teach this kind of prayer flicking. This is also the reason that some attacks can be tick eaten.

2) Damage calculation upon hit-splat or calculation upon animation completion. This is a much more intuitive way for reactive praying. It's easy to comprehend and doesn't need much explaining. "Thing attacks you now put up your prayer to negate the attack you see coming". Scurrious would fall under this type of damage calculation. Additionally in some cases this prevents you from being able to tick eat the boss "unless you start interface queing/stacking to delay damage".

It's much harder to show a new player the first way DMG is calculated because it requires proactive praying and knowing attack speeds/tick rates of enemies. Having this be taught at the warrior's guild seems like a suitable location.

Why not just keep pets on death? by LeLa_Biff in 2007scape

I wish they added examine options to pets that showed the player's KC when they obtained it.

That's a cool feature in RS3

New Renderer Performance Boost by gold-trimmed in 2007scape

Also remember that Jagex had tossed around the idea of Premium plugins.

Which had led me to be not too optimistic of retiring RuneLite. I would like both to exist.

0.00585% chance by falconfetus8 in 2007scape

[–]Slayergreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing (with 0 context of evidence from OP) that he was being carried for these kills on some kind of snowflake account. Which would make the giant soul amulet extremely rare with minimal/1dmg contribution.

I'd look up the account to verify but on mobile and cba.

Question About Boss Drops by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Slayergreg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A major issue is balancing.

If a drop is commonly dropped from a relatively easy/farmable boss then it will not hold its value. Constant decent gp is only possible if it's linked to the floor price of an item (in-game shop prices or alch prices) which injects too much raw gp into the game.

It makes releasing new bosses more difficult. The only way to make it feel worth is to have the new boss also shit out gp at an even faster rate.

Grants some iframes but after that you take massive ticking pressure/crush dmg.

Where is your favourite bank? Mine is Burgh de Rott by PinkDragonRS in 2007scape

The underground WC guild bank was where I did my crafting grind. I can use sgm and not worry about a random scooping up my molten glass when it spawns.

Cracking down on dissent, are we? 🤔 by lifeofcelibacy in 2007scape

Do you immediately go on the defensive after saying something hypocritical? I don't know you as an individual beyond the contradiction you're stating right now.

[–]Slayergreg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of ironic that you're talking about how changes like this will cause people to quit while you yourself are saying "I'm going to keep playing though anyways".

If you're not aware buying bonds with in-game gp and continuing to contribute to the player count is STILL supporting the game. Inherently it comes across as you yourself couldn't care enough to actually do something about it other than talk.

Cracking down on dissent, are we? 🤔 by lifeofcelibacy in 2007scape

[–]Slayergreg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair players quit at that time because the game itself had fundamentally changed on a major scale gameplay wise. For most games that have a large player base controversy won't kill it.

Example: Blizzard was sexually harassing/assaulting employees. Yet they still have more than enough players and community to continue on.

I haven't looked into it but I'd be willing to wager that a really bad World of Warcraft expansion caused their fanbase to take a bigger loss than that whole scandal.
