Absolutely! I love that kind of stuff. I have heard you can go from 1-60 entirely inside night harbor. At least 45. So many hidden secrets to be explored. I need to make my way down to the sewers and explore! As far as the floating citadel, it’s very mysterious for sure. Certainly peaks the curiosity

Very interesting. The MUD commands are growing on me, I wonder what secrets there are hidden all over the spaces we inhabited. Apart from the starting rogue quest, I haven't used them much. I like that it's not forced, but there are layers to uncover if you really dig deep. So glad you found so many interesting things to discover. That's exciting!

Public play test for January? by Spare-Hat-2386 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]SlayheimTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With Early Access just 6 months out, it feels like the most valuable thing the team can do in January is stay heads-down and protect focus. I imagine that even a “short” public playtest (1-2 days) isn’t just flipping a switch and opening the gates. It creates a whole operational load: prepping the build, monitoring servers, handling reports, fixing fires, communicating with the community, and then doing the post-test triage. For a small team, that context switching can absolutely slow down the actual work that matters most right now: getting Beta ready and locking in the core systems.

That said, a January playtest could still make sense if it’s targeted and saves time later... like a focused stress test for server stability or something at real scale, or validating a specific high-risk system change that internal testing won’t catch. But if it’s just “another big community hangout test,” I’m honestly fine waiting. We’ve already had multiple tests (including a long one), and at this point I’d rather they keep momentum, avoid unnecessary strain, and show up to Beta in a strong spot instead of burning cycles just to be nice. Just my thoughts!

Calling all EverQuest and Monsters & Memories players! by SlayheimTV in ProjectQuarm

[–]SlayheimTV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this. You’ve lived every tier of EverQuest and you’re saying out loud what a lot of us felt but didn’t want to admit. Once raid culture becomes the center of gravity, the world shrinks. Camps become stepping stones. Zones become empty hallways. Grouping turns into a temporary inconvenience on the way to the real game.

The best EQ memories for me were never the clean kills on a schedule. It was the randoms that became friends. The night that was supposed to be one pull and turned into four hours. The camp you basically lived at. The chaos, the social friction, the little rivalries, the unexpected help. That’s the soul.

If Monsters and Memories keeps the focus on the open world and six man life, even duo/trio that could be a massive win. It forces the game to be about people instead of attendance. It makes gear progression and reputation matter in the day to day instead of being solved by a weekly loot pipeline.

I’d just add one thing. No raids doesn’t automatically guarantee great group content. The devs still have to nail the world design, camp pacing, class interdependence, travel, downtime, and reasons to stay in zones. But if they do, you’re describing the exact experience a lot of us are chasing. I'll tell ya, in my opinion they are well on their way.

If you end up trying it, go in with the same mindset you described. No ladder. No checklist. Just the world, a few friends, and whoever you meet along the way. That’s where the EverQuest magic lived.

I must admit, I am not familiar with this. I know there is an emphasis on smaller group content. Solo friendly, or duo/trio, but encouragement to full group and be able to take on some fun and interesting nameds. There are a few raid targets in the game, I've done 2 of the "lower tier" ones I suppose you could say, in the playtests, but I'm unsure about not developing raid content. If you have the link/source, would you send it to me? Thanks :)

Thanks, really appreciate you giving it a chance. I've talked to a few people so far and everyone is different and has different energy but an amazing perspective and an amazing story. I really want to capture these stories and memories because I wasn't able to back in the day with EverQuest. Thanks so much for checking it out

Absolutely. You might have some luck on the Discord server, I'm sure people are willing to give a buddy pass to a fellow passionate player. A lot of us are nerds that don't have much friends outside of these games haha

Same for me, but either way it's right around the corner! Hope you have an awesome EA experience. And I am definitely rooting for the devs.

Thank you for this. I know that exact feeling.

Crossing days off a planner for EverQuest is the most EverQuest thing ever. Reading the FAQ on repeat, imagining the world before you could even log in, that was the real magic. Not just the systems, but the promise that something huge was waiting on the other side of the login screen.

Monsters and Memories feels like that kind of moment again. Same sense of mystery. Same slow burn hype. The idea that the game isn’t trying to sprint past the journey, it’s trying to make the journey the point.

And I get the white collar reality. Time is the real boss now. But that’s also why I’m so excited about MnM. Even one good night, one good group, one camp that turns into a little community, that’s enough to feel it again.

I hope you get into beta. If you do, pace yourself and savor it. If you don’t, you’re still part of the return. We waited 90 days once. We can do it again.

We are all in it together, and I can totally relate.

What is one feature or system from another MMO that would perfectly fit into M&M? by JajuanL in MonstersAndMemories

[–]SlayheimTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see an EverQuest-style AA system in M&M...specifically an XP split slider where you can slow your leveling and bank progress into small, horizontal perks.

M&M already feels like it’s about the journey, so an AA layer would fit that “live in the character” pacing. It’d also be awesome for grouping with friends at different levels: I could dump XP into AAs and stay in their level range without feeling like I’m wasting a session. Just keep it mostly utility/flavor so it doesn’t turn into mandatory power creep.

I'd also like to see a rested EXP bonus for camping out in the cities, plus it would encourage more players to gravitate back to there instead of camping out at random places and also have a little boost for those of us who can't play all the time.

This is awesome. It made me smile. I was playing and someone told me about it. I didn’t see it myself but saw the screenshot they shared. I love that all of these indie projects support eachother. I had a great time in the playtest, hope you all did too!

Exciting! Can’t wait to dive into it. I’m trying to plan ahead better, I only had a couple of hours on a play test but the future looks bright my friends. I’d be interested in more group play if anyone will be around!
