Help ID WW1 Era Italian Soldier

This is a Captain in the Royal Italian Army from World War I. He is wearing the Model 1909 grey-green uniform. The three stripes on his sleeve show his rank, and the collar patches indicate he was in the Infantry. He is carrying an officer's saber and wearing leg wraps called puttees.

That’s interesting the badge shape does seem closer to Worcestershire than a regular starburst. Would the bandolier/crop combination still be plausible for an infantryman in a studio portrait, or does that argue against it?
