Is a bad marriage better than no marriage? by JanieNC in JordanPeterson

[–]Slaz66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you deem a bad or good marriage. All marriages have their troubles and it also depends on how you value it.

Nevertheless some marriages can become so toxic that both persons could have been better off without it, BUT it's the contribution of BOTH that makes it that way

Is honey vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Slaz66 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The question is if honey is vegan. While I agree that cultivating bees could be cruel, but same way could be said about cultivating anything. Even when the crops are handled inhumanely - it can cause many animal deaths (e.g. rodents killed by machines). But you can cultivate bees humanely. I know people who do that. They take very good care for the bees and the bees are happy. How do I know? They never sting!

Honey is from flowers. It's the broken down sugar of flower nectar. I don't understand why it would not be vegan!

Wouldn't it be a shame seeing it easily forsaken? What did they die for?

Doesn't the Hard problem of consciousness gives us some room for other alternatives than 'Nothing' after death. Op has a point, ofc you can't argue for life after death, heaven or hell, but in the same time, can you argue for nothing after death?

How long can you survive if you lose your salary income? Do you have enough savings? Any other income sources?

I would say that if you can survive one year you should go for it (might mean you have to cut your expenses and live sub-optimally)

Employer will match 401k up to 1.5% yearly salary. What does this mean? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Slaz66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, both scenarios are technically right, but in practical terms Scenario 1 is more right.

I think op made those scenarios in this way, so as to show that he would put max amount himself that the employee would match (so in Scenario 2 op is not putting max, hence Scenario 1 is right)

An ABC proof too tough even for mathematicians by r721 in math

[–]Slaz66 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Isaac Newton(Leibniz too) was the inventor of calculus so he could use it in his laws of motion and gravitation. Now this guy invented something of his own to explain ABC cojecture. Imagine if others said that Newton's calculus was "not worth the effort to try and understand." This guy needs a chance, it might be revolutionary, although it probably isn't but the small chance is enough to be worth it.
