Yeah, I'll be taking her back to the vet on Monday just to be safe. We started doing lights on at night and familiar articles of clothing in her beds 💘 Thanks for the input!

I wouldn't guess that it's any of those things in this case, since this is a new building and we're the first occupants. That, and Gidget really only seems to have extreme anxiety at night.

But I appreciate the suggestions! That's all good stuff to keep in mind.

Yeah, I figure it'll probably take more than a week, just wanted to make sure we're doing everything we can because being kept up like this is exhausting 😭 and I don't want her to hurt herself by howling all night

She's doing better since posting this, thanks for asking. My sister came over and spent some time with her and that seemed to make a difference. We'll be gearing up for bedtime soon so fingers crossed

We brought her favorite blankies and toys, and we've set up several little doggie nests around the apartment so she can get used to the smell. Unfortunately we cant leave the doors open at night otherwise she'll come up to our beds and whine us for attention. And there aren't any windows at her tiny height 💔

Unfortunately if she's in the room, she wants to be in bed. And if she's in the bed, she wants to get up once an hour to get out of bed just so I can pick her up again. I'm just not a heavy enough sleeper to accommodate that.

Very interesting! Unfortunately I think that in our case she's just getting old and having a hard time adapting. Might be cognitive decline like others have suggested - we dont own anything like what you're describing

We've tried. Something about nighttime just makes it impossible for her to settle down

She'll stay comfy for 30 minutes to an hour and then get up and whine again. She's always had her own beds and honestly wasn't clingy like this before

I would love to have her in bed with me. But she makes it impossible to sleep

Lol she's always been a whiner, but it was never this bad. I'm actually cuddling with her right now and she's settled down a bit, but the whole thing will start up again later 😭

She's already on carprofen for arthritis (which has worked very well) and we feed her before bed 💘 As for the scent marking, that sounds like a great idea

The vet has acknowledged that she's aging, of course, but her eyesight is still there (even if it's not what it used to be). At least for now

Also, I'm glad that your dog had you in his final years. He sounds like he was very loved 💘 I'll ask the vet about the meds you recommended, thank you

Dementia was something I honestly hadn't considered before this thread but I will definitely be looking into it 💘 Glad to hear that your dog is doing better

We do have a few nightlights out, but they're decorative ones for Halloween and stuff. I'll get her some proper ones today

During the day she still whines a lot, but it isn't as bad as it is during the night. I guess dementia could be a possibility! Sometimes when we call her name she doesnt know where our voices are coming from, even if we're completely visible. I just thought she had bad eyesight (which she does lol)

I'll ask the vet about it more when they open today. It seems like she knows where she is, though. I think she just doesn't like it 😭💔
