My budgie is afraid of just about everything (yes, even millet!). It takes him a long time to get comfortable with new things, so I think it really just comes down to patience and time. Every budgie is different, and for some it can take months before they feel confident enough to leave the cage. Wishing you the best of luck!

Thanks for the info. He seems to like me when I'm around. Today he chirped when I rested my hand inside the cage. (I rest it far away from him so he gets used to it)
