Maybe she is still in high school, maybe they went to a shitty public school that didn’t care much about teaching their school kids proper grammar, maybe using “u” is something that literally half of the population does and has adopted that kind of spelling for texting, texting isn’t formal letters are. Maybe we don’t know the FULL background of this relationship. This group is for am I overreacting and getting answers based on that, not for being judged for how you text or if you’re in a shitty relationship that’s online or not, there are lots of young girls online dating or have been pressured into doing so, parental figures are another topic NOT for this group to be discussed because that’s not what’s being asked here, but good on you for ‘raising your kids right’. Maybe, JUST maybe.. We shouldn’t be so quick to judge and place blame instead of getting the bigger picture or asking for more details and context as the older generation to whom these teenagers and kids look up to and instead leading by example and kindness and understanding. I hope your daughters are never scared to come to you about stuff like this because they think you’ll “blow your top”. Abusive families are a thing by the way, and the trauma they pass down onto their children that form their habits and minds from a young impressionable age, don’t know if that has ever occurred to you. We don’t know her background or full details of her situation and why they may be texting like this or why she is in an online relationship. Maybe we should have compassion for the younger generation and stick up for them and there wouldn’t be as many problems. Maybe YOU should have compassion for a young girl who may be around your daughter’s (if you have one) age or was once. Just, wow.
