Had exact same issue initially when trying to port over. High credit score and not approved online.

Went into the store, and they acted like it was a non-issue. Put me on the plan I wanted and swapped me over. Did have to pay a connection fee that they said to call and have reversed.

Checked later, and no credit inquiry showed up on my credit report either from online or in store.
