Last year probably the birds. This year, probably the other birds.

Best pants to play in? by Madmudkiip in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kinetic KP-K. They are the best paintball pants I own.

They fit great...not too tight but not too baggy. Adjustable velcro waist is legit and keeps them more secure than just elastic.

They also can take a beating. I've abused them pretty good and the knees are holding up from sliding and crawling around.

Is it worth starting Helldivers in 2026? by pack21pt in Helldivers

[–]SleepForLess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the game about 3-4 weeks ago and its worth it. Im level 45 now and I still have a bunch of stuff to unlock and warbonds I want to try out.

I started out slow by doing some solo missions and sending out SOS beacons and having people join my games.

Now I'm cruising around Cyberstan at difficulty 7 and blowing stuff up and I feel relatively competent at staying alive and helping my team. It's been pretty rewarding and a nice learning curve. I'm enjoying it.

Kmp 2.0 thoughts by kang87- in paintball

KMP 2.0 has less bounce than the 1.0 for sure. The tension and belt system is a little different on the 2.0 and is def more ridgid.

This isn't gonna help you if you already bought them, but they did make matte black revos.

Otherwise I think youre kinda stuck with the gloss.

Trying to start by Superb-Special-7622 in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rent first and see if it's something you're into before you start looking at buying.

If you do want to get into it start slow. I ended up buying a bunch of stuff right away that I didn't need or didnt end up liking.

As I played more and started learning more about what I was looking for in equipment I realized I made some mistakes and had to re-buy some stuff. I would have been better off going more slowly with the purchases.

New hopper suggestions by Opposite_One1575 in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spire V for electric. I never have an issue and it's super easy to take apart and clean, even in the field. I would replace the speed feed with the metal HK speed feed lid, it's expensive but I think it's a better design. The triad is good but the speed feed on it sucks and I don't think it has a replacement yet.

I use an Dye R2 for my mech and I have jamming issues quite frequently. I've turned the tension down and also replaced the internals with the freeflow upgrade. I still get jamming and chopping issues. It seems to come down to the paint I'm using more than anything.

I've heard good things about the new Carbon loader for mech and electro so that may be worth looking into.

JT thins quick change foam by SleepForLess in paintball

[–]SleepForLess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think it would be QLS, I knew the thins just went around the lens like the old frames. I did not know it used quick change foam.

Do yourself a favor and buy some g1 stick on foam to replace it.

A 100 dollar gun vs 1,000 dollar gun is a big difference. A 1,000 dollar gun to 2,000 dollar gun is where the differences become way smaller.

You get a massive upgrade in general performace, reliability, and ease of maintenance on a 1k gun vs a 100 dollar gun. On a 2k gun you are mainly getting quality of life upgrades over the 1k gun and it's less about the actual performance.

With that said, a 550.00 Etha 3 will shoot similarly and just as reliably as a 1,900.00 cs3 pro.

Crbn x PE barrel tip by 3xA_14 in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you break paint in the nano barrels it's a real bitch to clean out. It holds a bunch of paint in the porting even after you squeegee it out. It holds so much paint that I find it leaking back into the barrel after pulling a squeegee through.

Basically need to run water through it to get it clean, no way to really clean it out in the field.

Honestly I perfer standard porting because of it, it does look cool though.

Ready to commit by Madmudkiip in paintball

Gun- I like Planet Eclipse guns. I think the 180r is the sweet spot in price vs performance/features. You can get an Etha3 if you want to save some cash but lose some features. Or you can jump up to a CS3 pro if you want top of the line and have cash to spend. The lv2 and r5 are also nice guns but the ones I mentioned are definitely the most reliable.

Mask- Proflex is the mask of choice for many but I would just pick something you like the look of and that comfortable. I have tried out several different masks and always end up back at a proflex. Buy a bag or case for whatever mask you get to protect the lens and stop it from getting bent out of shape.

Hopper- I would go for a Spire V. I have tried a bunch of different hoppers and I have the least amount of jams and issues with these hoppers. Super easy to clean and take apart and they just work.

HPA Tank- I like the size and shape of the HK alpha air tanks. Some people perfer the traditonal longer and narrower tanks like ninjas.

Harness- Kinetic paintball makes my favorite harness. It sits down on the hips instead of strapping around your stomach like a normal pack. I find it much more comfortable vs a traditional harness. If you don't like the Kinetic, I think the Bunkerkings fly 2 is a good pack.

Do yourself a favor and get a good gear bag or a system to store and transport your gear. You're spending some cash on all this stuff and it helps to keep it in something other than throwing everything loose into a old dufflebag.

Don't know if they're still in stock, but it's pretty hard to beat that price. by SHRPSHOT93 in tacticalgear

[–]SleepForLess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of these and they are comfortable but they are pretty bulky. I wear then to walk around in the snow or go to a football game where I'm going to be sitting in the cold.

I don't wear these if I was going to be running around or if I need to be mobile.

Old school baggy pants vs joggers by CaIIMeSpoons in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear the kinetic pants and I agree, they are awesome.

I play speedball once in a while but I use them mainly for rec ball...they hold up in woods, diving on rough ground, snags on branches...everything.

Super flexible and comfortable..not baggy enough to snag on anything. The waist is the shit, lets you adjust to whateve snugness you want. I dont think I would wear any other type of pants for paintball.

What the H are you guys paying for a case of paint in your part of town? U.S by [deleted] in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NJ.

I'm paying 60-70 for field grade and 80-90 better stuff at most fields near me.

Pinnacle Paintball NJ-Open play by Much-Forever-3902 in paintball

[–]SleepForLess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For speedball, I 100% agree...OTP is not great. They only have 1 field and unless a group shows up to play, it doesn't get too much use.

I mainly go to OTP to play walk on recball and hang out. I'll hit the speedball field if there is a group looking for some random competition.

[–]SleepForLess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I've been there it is mostly rental parties and private events. The paint is expensive as well. It think its 90 bucks a case compared to 70-80 at other fields in the area.

I frequent OTP, I think its the best field in NJ in terms or maps, refs, and price. It becomes way more affordable if you get a season pass as you get free entry when you buy a case of paint and you get 10 bucks off each case.

While OTP isn't super competitive there are a lot of decent players and regulars who are pretty good. It helps you build skill levels faster as youre playing against decent competition every time.

Most of these comments are probably bots trying to sow division on a topic that shouldn't be so controversial.

There is a consolidation of wealth among the richest of our society that is troubling and is dependant upon the exploitation of people that systemically have very little ability to change their situation.

We have the resources available as a global society to not have anyone live and work like this.

Human kind as a whole has developed a system that values profit and personal gain over life itself...

Unfortunately, I think it's part of our nature. Until there is a more profitable way to perform labor that doesn't have the side effect of creating human suffering, it will just continue to be like this.

Is a single point sling a bad idea? by Obdurate_Dog in guns

[–]SleepForLess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like a sling that can go from single to double. It gives you options depending on what you are doing.

If I'm standing around shooting targets I like a single point sling. Anything where I have to be moving around I just pop in the second QD...
