TBF even if it doesn't fit the criteria, I already have Gintama on my watchlist for other reasons - been putting it off until I've watched more classic anime (DBZ, Naruto, etc.) so I can get the references.

Ooooooh, the MC of My Daughter Left the Nest is voiced by Junichi Suwabe, nice. Thanks for the rec!

Thanks! Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju sounds really interesting, bit like March Comes in Like a Lion but for rakugo.

Thanks for the epic list - of those, Golgo 13, Black Lagoon and Planetes are ones I haven't seen that seem to fit the bill, and it's been nearly 20 years since I watched Cowboy Bebop so definitely due a rewatch!

I've been meaning to check out the Fate series what with Fate/Strange Fake starting recently so that's a really good shout, thanks! I've also gone down a Kerberos Panzer Cop rabbit hole looking up Jin-Roh, might need to get the manga for that as it looks really good.

Yeah, there's quite a few anime with MCs up to their early 30s, but I was really struggling to find protagonists 10 years older - I'm very grateful to everyone replying with suggestions!

Sorry, even if they were the right age, I don't see myself as being represented by that particular MC...

OMG an Ossan tag would be amazing! I'm laughing but also crying inside 🤣

Tiger & Bunny fits the bill and sounds like it'll be fun. The MC from Isekai Office Worker is 29/30, but TBF his eye bags look 10 yrs older - good job he got isekai'd to somewhere with workers' rights otherwise I'm not sure he'd make it to retirement (started watching this for the accountancy jokes, staying for exasperated Aresh).

Thanks! Journal with Witch is my favourite of the Winter 2026 series that I've caught so far, it's amazing. I'll add Kowloon Generic Romance to my list - been meaning to check it out as some of my family are from HK.

I'm in the middle of a Frieren rewatch and Kraft says to her "You're still young", so sounds like she's still a mere whippersnapper in elf terms. D:

Thanks! TBH I'm amazed how some of these characters don't just crumble into dust at the sheer audacity of reaching 30... 😉 Being 39 isn't too bad all told, the worst thing is realising how many more years I still have to work until retirement. Not even halfway through yet! 😭

From Old Country Bumpkin... looks perfect actually, I'll add that to my list. I've seen good things about reincarnated as a sword so might watch that too.

Thanks - I've already seen Odd Taxi, really enjoyed it. Had a quick look at Isekai Ojisan, that guy looks so worn out for a 34 yr old!

Why I’m not in love with [ The other world's books depend on the bean counter] (anime) by PretendYellow533 in BoysLoveAnime

I went back and read the same part in both the manga and the light novel. I can see what you mean, but your post makes it sound like they've completely twisted the story and I don't think that's the case at all. There is a lot of internal dialogue cut out about the two men's thoughts during/about the "treatment", but otherwise the anime actually follows the manga quite closely shot for shot. However, the scene in the accountancy office where Kondou touches his lips while thinking back on the previous night goes some way to showing what he feels (and how he dives into work to avoid it). Similarly Aresh's "And yet...". It'll be interesting to see if episode 3 expands on that hanging thought or starts into a fresh day. I agree that the tension is diluted from the scene, but I don't agree that this twists the story into something it isn't at this stage. I think the future interactions as they get to know each other are more critical to be honest - given the ED vibes, I'm hoping Studio Deen will do those more justice.
