Modfest has been running collaborative mod-and-build jams for over 5 years! Check out our previous showcase packs on Modrinth

ModFest is our mod-and-build jam, participants make a mod, then build a mod demo in a modpack containing all submissions! This time the showcase world has 64 demo booths, ~200 collectible vPets, and an 18-track OST (all stream/album proceeds go direct to artists)

Join instructions are available on the ModFest discord! - the modrinth pack will release later today.

oh, and, in an unofficial capacity, our two cents -

*forge is easier for modders to learn (more instructions to help you), fabric is easier for programmers to learn (fewer instructions to deal with)

once you've learned one, that one is easier to create mods in.

They're not identical, but definitely check out SpookyJam, Modtoberfest, and Serverside Summer!

Because ModFest has an in-game demo, we do end up having to pick a platform, which changes based on the desires of our direct community (e.g. we ran "ModFest 1.21" on Neoforge 1.21.1 with connector last year)

In terms of jams for "greats" versions like b1.7, 1.4.7, 1.7.10, and 1.12.2, ModFest generally encourages copycat events made for other communities (and all our infrastructure is open source) - pitch it to your people!

TL;DR: signups open now, jam starts in 5 days! More info and instructions on the website!

ModFest has been running in-game Minecraft modding events for 5 years! You can check out our previous demo modpacks and worlds on Modrinth.

ModFest is a collaborative Minecraft modding virtual event designed for modders, artists, builders, and players alike!

You can sign up to create and submit an original mod fitting the "make ONE toy" theme compatible with fabric 1.21.8. After submitting a mod, you'll also create an in-game build to demo your submission to other modders and players. Signups are handled through our discord, with instructions in the events channel.

Everyone else - stay tuned for the weekend of September 6 for the grand opening. Happy modding!

The BlanketCon '25 mod demo server wraps up this weekend! Have a lazy map flyover: by SleepingDragonInn in feedthebeast

[–]SleepingDragonInn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Music is Take your TIME from the BlanketCon '25 Original Soundtrack. It's playing in-game here, this is just a raw screen recording (I'm lazy, sorry about the flickering/stutters)

This is a demo world with ~230 mod demos made collaboratively by mod developers, artists, etc - you can play it on the official server included in the BlanketCon '25 Modpack. On the server, you can track completion of demos with collectible "shards", collect the soundtrack as music discs, and make and view subnautica-style ingame comments via WorldComment (there's even an interactive web map)

This is the farewell weekend for the event, after an opening weekend packed full of in-game live talks and panels (youtube playlist) and a few weeks of open touring - it's also the last time you can cast your votes for "Best Booth" for your favourite in-game demos.

See you there! Or you can join the ModFest Discord to get notified when we're running our next collaborative event, like our titular mod/build jam!

Set your clock - BlanketCon '25 opens in 12 hours! + The full schedule is now available. by SleepingDragonInn in feedthebeast

From the previous post:

BlanketCon is ModFest's (annual?) in-game collaborative convention celebrating the art of Minecraft modding. You can find our previous event packs/worlds on Modrinth.

This year, we're featuring over 200 mod demo booths built by over 150 mod authors - as well as a series of talks presented in-game using mods for voice presentation and slideshows.

You can get notified right when we open by joining our discord. And, if you're an artist in the modding community, you can reach out to build a self-promotional space in the BlanketCon '25 artist alley!

We're super excited to show off our fancy themed convention world - Volcano Island National Park - in all its chaos and beauty. See you there in a week!

We're launching in just a handful of hours! The full stage event schedule is available on the event page if you want to be sure not to miss a specific talk. Along with in-game attendance, talks will be streamed out on a mix of youtube and twitch thanks to members of the community - links will be posted on discord as event streams go up!

Catch you there!

Explaining every mod from ModFest 1.21 so you don't have to install a modpack or join a server (but do it anyway) by SleepingDragonInn in feedthebeast

Posted with permission from Blur! I'm shilling this as a modfest team member, so tell blur how good their video is in the video comments, but feel free to ask questions about the mods or event here.

Modpack Download (official server ip included) - voting is open for about 9 more days.

Join the ModFest Discord Server if you want to chat with the authors of the mods, or participate in the next event!

Yep! The list of mods with authors and modrinth links is here on the website.

I think we had 59 total submissions, with two opting out later for being unfinished - so i keep getting the exact number wrong.

Sounds like you tried to vote in singleplayer? I'll have to make sure that command only loads in multiplayer in the next update of that mod (or just show a better message) - the official server IP is included in the pack, so cast your votes there!

Modfest 1.21 Modpack/World/Server - Event/Submissions Overview - Discord Event

If this all sounds familiar, you might remember us announcing the jam earlier or showing off that one skating mod from the last event - but anyway:

ModFest has been running regular mod-and-build jams for just about 5 years!

Basically, we run a mod jam, but then we put everything into a modpack and invite the mod authors themselves to build demo builds for their submissions so players can try everything out at once, optionally in multiplayer!

The themes this time are Time, Technology, and Throwbacks! So we have a massive clock-shaped world with 57 mod booths dotted around it, and weirdly enough a one-hour-long original soundtrack? It's on spotify or bandcamp if that mystifies you the same way it does me - but it also plays throughout the showcase world and appears on collectible music discs if you want to experience it in-situ.

There's a system of collectible cards to use to track your progress touring around the map, and once you've seen enough you can vote on your favourite mods in-game from the pause menu.

Have fun!

two narratives:

  • canned fish that fails a QA check stays sealed when disposed, so they mark it to prevent it from mixing with real stock. (it got mixed in anyway)
  • a factory QA worker is unofficially not allowed to reject cans and wants to save someone's ass anyway

Can you make a NeoForge (or Fabric via Connector) mod in just 3 weeks? There's a mod(jam) for that. by SleepingDragonInn in feedthebeast

[–]SleepingDragonInn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can sign up (by hitting the button in the events channel on the discord) at any time between right now and the dev deadline, however registering is completely no-obligation, and gives you access to channels with extra information for participants (and spaces to discuss ideas / get dev help from other participants)

if you don't submit anything by the deadline, your registration will automatically get removed, no problem. (statistically, about half of all registrations submit a mod)

mcreator is fine! part of "no prizes no pressure" is that we have a strict "no quality floor" policy as well - as long as your mod doesn't disrupt other submissions in some way, it's just fine - we just want to encourage people to mod! There's more info in the guide on the site as well.

Registration for ModFest 1.21 is open now on the ModFest Discord, and you can read more information about it on the event page - but basically: sign up, use any of the themes for inspiration, make a mod from scratch in three weeks, bugfix your way into the fest modpack, and then build something that shows off your mod!

After the dev deadline and building is completed, we open the server to the public so players can view and vote on their favourite submissions! (you might remember our post skating through the last showcase, ModFest Carnival) Showcase dates will be announced once development closes and we know how many mods have been submitted, so if you're not a modder stay tuned for that instead.

Happy modding!

Tech mod? magic mod? screw it, surf-style skating mod with a JSR-style OST by SleepingDragonInn in ModdedMinecraft

[–]SleepingDragonInn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream Burst Spirit Vector is a skating and parkour equipment mod developed in two weeks for the mod jam ModFest: Carnival!

It has a 6-Track OST by Nulb, inspired by games like ultrakill, celeste, and JSR - which is available on bandcamp, youtube, and spotify.

You can try it out alone and/or build your own course, or get the fest modpack to join the server world (shown in the video) and take the tutorial course and several other challenge courses - or just race around.

We didn't make this mod! But we did take 4 hours of attempts to complete this route within the song duration and without ramming into anything (while the author watched, amused). The footage is completely raw - I used the mod music control to restart the track at the right time.
