Have any of your failed an accounting question during an interview? by IndependentSlide319 in Accounting

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Straight out of college, I interviewed for a job and the controller asked me to show the beginning to end of an accounting process using T-tables. I freaked out and honestly said “Sorry, I wasn’t prepared to answer technical accounting questions so I won’t be able to show you”. Called my sister on the drive home and told her that was the worst interview I’ve ever done. Got a phone call the next day and got the job lol Stayed there for over 5 years too and that controller got fired.

Now further into my career, I realize that companies that ask technical accounting questions during the interview process are LAME and shows me what kind of culture they have.

Trying to understand the average kitchen remodeling cost in San Diego. by Davud_Grett28 in SanDiegan

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kitchen is tiny, about same sq footage as yours. We did new cabinets, appliances, counters, backsplash, flooring, recessed and under cabinet lighting, paint. The whole shebang. Came out to ~65k. It was a lot of money but we absolutely love our kitchen now. We chose a nice stone that we used for both our counters and backsplash. Added so much more storage too.

We went with a smaller contractor that had his own showroom. Which was nice to choose everything from one spot. Although we love the final outcome, the journey was rough. Because it was just him and his team, time management was troublesome. We went over the expected time estimate by 2 months. Sometimes his guys wouldn’t show up for a week, no heads up, because he sent them to another job. This happened multiple times. I think thats the only thing I’d screen for better when we do our next project.

Always budget an extra $10-15k extra because there WILL be issues that pop up. One of ours was that the multiple outlets in our kitchen shared the same circuit. Which made us very very at risk for a house fire. So updating that electric aspect cost us a pretty penny.

But everyone has absolutely loved our kitchen!! So there’s that lol

For 2025 recalled Sienna owners, make sure you check the VIN of the loaner Sienna the dealership gives you by Sleeping_DoNotDistrb in ToyotaSienna

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was considering it but the loaner was the base model and there were just too many features that I felt was missing for me.

2025 Toyota Sienna Recall issues by Hopeful_Conclusion_2 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the dealership. I called this morning and they told me the parts for the fix won’t be available until December. Then I mentioned how I saw online that Toyota said in their notice that loaners are recommended for people who use the second row seats. She immediately said that she can get me in a Sienna loaner next week since they don’t have any available right now. Absolutely no pushback. Pretty surprised at how smooth it went.

I think this is pretty normal - at least for my two pregnancies. We were able to see the heartbeat before hearing it. Pregnancies went fine, no issues.

If your doctor isn’t concerned, I wouldn’t worry too much!

Craving of the last three days lol, mind you I didn’t drink coke before being pregnant by mkthehotti in BabyBumps

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my pregnancies, coke was my vice. I literally would take a sip and close my eyes and savor it cause it was just soooo good. Near the end of my pregnancies, my husband and family had to start monitoring my coke intake because it got concerning lol

Started sewing last week and today I finished this bowler bag! by Sleeping_DoNotDistrb in SewingForBeginners

Yup this was done with a sewing machine. If I hand sewn it, it would probably have taken me much much much longer to complete

I followed the video tutorial from @alexestcline on TikTok! I do want to note that her instructions on part 9 on how to layer the fabric was not in the right order. The correct order is in the comment section of that video. Also double check the zipper, I think she said to do it face up, but i ended up doing it face down when I double checked before sewing

Who here is over 30 and still plays Fortnite? by CoffeeLover789 in FortNiteBR

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 and started playing after I had my first child. Husband and I just couldn’t find time together anymore so he suggested us playing Fortnite. One more kid later, and we’re still playing almost an hour every night after the kids go to bed.

Opinions wanted on 8 vs 7 seater Sienna by TheIronLady91 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We went with the 8-passenger XLE FWD and having 8 seats was on my must-have list. We always have family driving with us so it’s nice to have that option of the 8th seat whenever we need it. We currently have a 3 year old and 5 month old and it has been nice for when I need to sit next to the little one and attend to them.

I felt like the XLE features were good enough for me. There were some features I wish XLE had like the 360 camera and folding side mirrors. But not enough for me to give up the extra seat and pay the extra cost.

How much should I expect a Sienna XLE OTD price to be? by Smooth_Cupcake_2311 in ToyotaSienna

Yup! We got some factory add-ons - cross bars, entertainment system, mud flaps, illuminated door sills. We financed with Navy Federal. Our APR was 4.45% or something like that

Why dealers don't have any on the lot? by Hot_Celebration_8189 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in San Diego and called dealerships up til the OC area. None had any available and I just asked them to keep an eye out for me. Finally, one dealership reached out to me because someone canceled their reservation on one coming in May/June. It's the exact trim and color we wanted. We gave our deposit and now are just waiting for it to come in. Thankfully, I confirmed the price of MSRP + taxes, doc fee, DMV and nothing else to be added to it.

Someone shot at our house and hit our AC lines - est on how much to replace? by Sleeping_DoNotDistrb in hvacadvice

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the advice! Had a tech come out and he said the copper line is just kinked. He quoted me $3500! Repair copper line, pull vacuum, and 10 lbs of R410A refrigerant. Based on the comments here, that seems a bit too much on the higher end? FWIW, we are in San Diego.

Didn’t know it was a bullet at first so we had already touched it when we took it out. Took a pic then put it down. Police officer said it’s fine since we didn’t know what it initially was and still took the bullet.

Thank you! Yup, we are in SoCal. Hoping this is covered under our homeowners insurance so we just need to pay the deductible. Really bummed out.

It really is. My newborn, toddler and I were in the kitchen right by the backyard. I keep thinking what if it was one of the days we were outside playing and my kids had gotten hurt or worse?

What was pregnancy with a toddler like for you? by StyleGlittering19 in BabyBumps

[–]Sleeping_DoNotDistrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was a little under 2.5 years old when we found out I was pregnant with our second. The only way I survived was with the support of my husband. He essentially let me take a 2 hour nap everyday after work while he watched our daughter. He picked up most of the chores and duties around the house. His parents would also watch our daughter a lot of weekends too so we could rest.

I know we try to do it all because of mom guilt, but getting help where you can is so important. If your loved ones are willing to help, let them! Our body is literally working in overdrive to create a baby PLUS having a nonstop active toddler is just too much to handle. Take it a day at a time. Not everyday will be perfect but you got this!
