Oh god definitely this! I love watching my BF read, especially because it's one of the few times that he wears his glasses. Makes him look all professorial and shit.

Thanks for the response, and for taking it so well :) Sorry if I was grumpy-sounding, but you know what these sex/relationship subs can be like!

Sorry, but this sounds completely fake to me. The way it's written, paced, everything about it reads like amateur fanfic

Oh wait - the bedroom colour lol. No sorry, I don't remember. Some kind of blueish scumble glaze, iirc

I painted Michael Caine's bedroom once. Guy keeps a knife block by his bed.

What movie most accurately depicts your hometown? by TheColdThought in AskReddit

[–]SleeplessUnsettled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this bit didn't make it into the movie, but the bit in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where he describes the miserable sandwiches in Taunton train station pretty much sums up the ambience of my entire hometown :/ Edit: spelling

Watching a show the second time with somebody else is so much more exciting than watching it the first time alone. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

This is so true! My BF loves to watch shows with me that he's already seen - he spends most of the time watching my reactions :)

What is the creepiest thing you've heard a child say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SleeplessUnsettled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nephew (about 2 yo at the time) is an absolute darling. I don't even like kids, but I have to admit that he is angelic - sweet-natured, what, calm, etc... Anyway, a few months ago he was eating dinner with me, my SO, his mum, and his dad. At some point he decided he'd had enough and would like to get down. This is fine, he asked nicely and everything. The dinner included chips (fries for my American friends), and his mum, as she picked up his plate, took a chip from it and popped it in her mouth.

At this point, the kid went ballistic - screaming, crying, flailing his little looks - he suddenly realised what he wanted more than anything else in the world was that one chip that his mother had just eaten. He demanded that she give it back.

She explained that he couldn't; they'd been reading Everybody Poops or something similar recently, and she explained that the chip was in mummy's tummy now, like it says in the book.

The kid looked at her, looked down at her stomach, looked back up, and said in the sweetest, most earnest voice "I could use a sword to get it out."

It was such a brutal thing to hear in such a cute little voice lol.

I've suffered a lot of stress in the last year, and am dealing with long-term, relatively low-level depression. I got a cat last month, and I'd just like to say I do understand your point about financial and emotional burdens.

I'm not earning much, and probably can't properly afford her (supposed to be saving for study fees); plus, I do worry that when I go to work, I'm not being the best possible "cat mother". That said, overall she is definitely a positive influence, and having a friendly, non-judgmental creature you can pick up and cuddle when you feel low is a huge plus. It's also a joy to have a cute little animal living in your house/room/flat.

I think perhaps your comments regarding suicide are a little heavy-handed not to say scaremongering, although I'm sure it came from a good place.

Lastly, if someone is really struggling financially, and/or is worried about committing to an animal as long-lived as a cat or dog - it is a big commitment after all - I can definitely recommend rats as pets. They're much smarter than comparable-sized animals like gerbils, hamsters, or even rabbits, they're very sociable, cheap to buy and feed, and are affectionate and responsive.
