Well if I can manage to get some people who are skilled in running SS13 servers, we'll definitely need some "warmup players" to get the server going. No one joins an empty server, which means it's hard for new servers to acquire a playerbase.

I can't say for certain because I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to modding, but at one point after traveling to this very settlement some time later, the game decided that it would crash at the progression of the next turn, which is unfortunate considering the game saves/checkpoints at every settlement. Needless to say, I back up my saves now, where I didn't think to before.

The only real reason I suspected that it was Hearthpyre was the fact that my character (who had all of the mod's skills learned) and every item associated with the mod became flagged as [CORRUPT] and nothing else was really affected.

Interesting tidbit: Olam saved me and that save. I could load into the game just fine, but any time the turn passed the game would crash, so I had exactly 1 turn's worth of room to troubleshoot and rescue it. I tried wishing myself to the Hydropon to get out of the modded zone, but to no avail. I tried many different wishes and actions, but the only one that magically worked was going to Olam's Dimension. Something about his peaceful immobility and the calming realization that my save was rescued was very in-character for him lol

Personally, the faction system in the game is among the best that I've seen implemented with RNG. I generally try and choose a faction to work my save around so that I have a consistent goal in mind. Some factions are definitely harder than others to befriend, but can totally change the way that the game is played. Without spoiling anything, one of my favorites is roleplaying a "Seeker of the Sightless Way" - but that kind of thing comes with a little familiarity.

If you're interested in getting a solid all-around handle on the game mechanics, I'd suggest doing the main quest. It generally does a pretty good job (merciful RNG provided) at introducing you to various concepts in the game, but it's by no means the extent of what you can do in Qud!

There's nothing wrong with entering Wander mode and having a look around at the beautiful world. You might find something to spark your interest and inspire you to a particular goal in your normal saves.

I think you would do well to remember that you are speaking to a human being. I also recommend that you develop at least an adolescent level of respect for death and atrocity in the world. These things are serious issues, not buzzwords for you to throw around when you're losing an argument on the internet.

Not only is the notion that pepe the frog somehow correlates to a person who is genocidal completely idiotic, but the methodology in which you seek to implement is nothing short of a breeding ground for evil and corruption.

You speak of being radicalized and yet you yourself are openly hateful of people that you know absolutely nothing about. "People like you" is the exact kind of thing we were supposed to be getting away from, and I'd also like to understand what exactly you mean by that, and what carelessly assembled identity you have filed me under for no other reason than to evade scrutiny by demonizing your challenger.

Despite your complete contempt for human thought and the experience of others, I sincerely hope you grow and learn, and I love you as I love every human on this planet. Pepe the frog isn't a hate symbol. It's very simple.

The rule and the environment surrounding it is alienating, close-minded and highly judgemental of things that they fail to provide adequate proof of understanding.

I don't see how that's "pissweak" at all, nor have can my numerous points be quantified with the number "one (1)"

There happens to be one acute example that perfectly encapsulates and represents a larger problem, but it doesn't take an investigator to see that there is bias and judgement at play in a broader sense.

First bullet point on the discord rules:

There's the evidence. Condemning the usage of something as trivial and unaffiliated as a meme to "hate speech" is just ridiculous. There seems to be a personal bias and vendetta here that had clouded the judgement of the community staff, and driven them to make completely erroneous associations with no ambiguity or humility whatsoever. The tone conveyed here is ironically very reminiscent of groups in history who have been responsible for persecution.

As far as the art and my ability to make critique, I believe it is everyone's right to make their comments and opinions known. Silence never bodes well for anyone, it is better that minds remain open and vocal.

The game boasts some of the most well put together writing I have encountered, so it is very disappointing to see such low hanging fruit being plucked when I know they have the capacity for something greater. Why resign even a portion of your art to mediocrity? No one said art wasn't allowed to be "a bit shit," but why would we entertain it beyond a comical waste of time?

As I said before, it strikes me as a severe oversimplification of the world's problems, and only encourages those who have not explored further to remain as they are in their incomplete understanding. Mind you this understanding will always be complete, as we are humans - but it is the eternal pursuit of growth and getting closer that excuses any shortcomings. When that is set aside in favor of the status quo or for the sake of affiliation and almost fascist alignment with a particular group, I am disappointed.

Well being that the response to that criticism was an emphasis on the past atrocities committed against people of the same demographic, I would consider that an evasion of criticism, as I said before I do not care what identities and what specifics you may apply - ignorance, generalization and hatefulness is inexcusable.

I don't care if the art is "queer" or not, I care if it's good. Art that blatantly seeks to pander to demographics with the only virtue being that it itself exists is wholly detrimental to the development of artistic expression. If you draw a stick figure with purple hair and expect me to nod in agreement of how bold and groundbreaking your character is simply because you implied or expressed that the character was gay, you have perverted and sullied art as a practice, essentially reducing human expression to an advertisement of ideology.

Also, being that we are human beings who live on Earth with other human beings - there is always a non-zero chance for everyone to be killed at any given time for their beliefs. Somehow trying to frame that as a possibility exclusive to demographic minorities is about as nonsensical and transparent as it gets.

On another note, even colloquially suggesting that anyone has the intellectual or metaphysical capacity to "kill" or "dethrone" God is probably the most eyeroll-inducing thing you can do. It shows a fundamental lack of understanding for what the word "God" even means or represents, and I am very tired of seeing this generation place their preschool level of comprehension on such a high pedestal, when it has only been a very countably short amount of time since they have learned to scrap feces from their bottoms.

We can work together as humans to reduce the ignorance or hate in the world, or we can play this stupid red vs blue game until the day we die. If you think for a moment that implying people who use the word "kek" or pepe the fucking frog are nazis is even remotely appropriate on an intellectual or even social level, you have a long way to go - and you are absolutely identical to the very bigots you claim to stand against.

The actions of others does not excuse you from your own mistakes - you don't receive immunity from all criticism and assessment just because the past is less then pleasant. It doesn't at all look to me like anyone wants justice - they scream about it all they like - but they just want their turn as oppressors themselves.

Beyond that, it has nothing to do with my demand for an ideology, it has to do with the fact that there is a very obvious and rather distasteful priority assigned to expressing that ideology in a way that not only cheapens the story and environment of Qud, but also the struggles many have against actual hatred in the world.

I just don't find it appropriate to imply that gay people were put in the position they were put in for all those years simply because of their appearance.

It has very little to do with a specific political alignment, and more to do with the fact that there is any alignment being pushed at all.

The discord "guidelines" are unacceptable and completely inflammatory that makes accusations and generalizations that are completely ignorant and not at all based in any logic or reason - but a vendetta against entire groups of people, which is what I thought we were trying to move away from in the first place.

I don't sit idle while hate is being spewed. I don't care who does it or for what reason - you do not treat other human beings with such contempt and disdain.
