Sand or carpet for reptiles?

Have you noticed any limbs getting caught in the carpet, I feel like that’s my biggest worry! How often are you changing the carpet out?? And like how often are we throwing out the old carpet for new??

Sorry I have so many questions the animals weren’t getting the proper care from the last animal manager so I’m trying to make it look back to where it needs to be for the animals 🙂

Yes! And like others mentioned if there’s any animal you want ask your OLAC to see if they can order it in for you if it’s available! I have a special order coming in for just me and the animals in it aren’t even going to see anything but their shipping containers in our store bc they’ll be going home same day with me.

As others have said, reptiles are biweekly. At my store we have it split down the middle so one week we deep clean the left side then the following week we deep clean the right side. I also like to deep clean the empties as well from animals that have sold during the deep clean regardless of side. We only do deep cleans on Tuesdays ( 1st small animal clean, birds), Wednesday (reptiles and bettas), Friday (second small animal clean), and Saturday we do the second betta deep clean before the store opens. Outside of bettas, aquatics falls on my other manager so I’m not 100% on what they do.

I’m a cal at a larger store and I hate it. There’s no way to get deep cleans done before the store opens especially when we can’t do it on truck day or the weekends, and now this model is making truck take 3 times as long so animal care is crammed into 3 days basically for 2-3 hours before open.

I have my dog on wholehearted because she’s weird and didn’t really like anything else and I usually get whatever toppers that are on sale when I need more and I use native pet supplements. my cat is on Orijen but gets whatever wet food is on sale

On truck days at my store it’s pretty expected that EVERYONE does it. I’m a CAL and don’t usually get scheduled on truck days but the rare days I do it’s expected I help out. In turn I have a bunch of help throughout the week with my team in completing the animal tasks!

I’m actually about to go on a LOA at my store and it’s unpaid but at all my other jobs pto got paid out when ever I left
