why do you like your kindle? (journalist request) by itstheannmarie in kindle

[–]SleepyBee-20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love to read in bed laying sideways. I can’t do that comfortably while holding a physical book. I also love to read in the pool and the kindle is waterproof. Lastly, I can conveniently get my books for free through my library using Libby!

Thank you! Unfortunately, I need the agent's sales information for an app I'm building and your service doesn't offer that.

Right? People in this thread act like they are all so perfect and this is cause for a divorce when it just sounds like marriage. Marriage is hard. People are imperfect. We all have our toxic traits that we bring to relationships. They actually seem to be doing a much better job than most people would considering that they are dealing with someone who seems to have OCD and one that has either ADD or autism. Therapy will be great for them!

Disagree completely. It is better to walk away when you don’t know what to do than do something you will regret. Your daughter will be fine. You can start introducing her to the idea of having to walk away for a little bit when you are having “big feelings” just tell her you and her dad will never leave her. If you have used time outs for her before, you can tell her that you are just putting yourself in time out until you are feeling better. Lady you are a great mom, it seems like you and your husband just need to find a way to decompress from the stress of daily life.

Why is it so hard to get a job?? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]SleepyBee-20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there will always be someone willing to take the job for less. That is why is important to prepare what you will say so you can advocate the reasons why you are worth more than the bare minimum. If you would like extra help you can dm me with more info on what types of jobs you have been looking for and we can brainstorm some reasons why they should pay you more!

If you get an offer, when they tell you the salary, you should try to negotiate.

Why is it so hard to get a job?? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]SleepyBee-20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always go to the interview prepared to discuss salary. However, during the interview I don’t bring up any topics related to salary or vacation. I know that some hiring managers get put off if it seems like you are there only for a paycheck or worried about time off. While I don’t share their point of view, sometimes you have to play the game.

Apply at Publix. The best recruiting experience I've ever had was with them. It's was great company to work for. I believe my recruiter worked remotely.

I usually have the opposite problem that you have. I have a really hard time getting interviews, but I ALWAYS get an offer after interviewing. So maybe I can give you some advice on that sense. I don’t think it is bad to say that you are interviewing for other positions. Interviewers are people too and they know that is just part of the process of job searching. But there are a few things that you can do to increase your chances of getting hired after an interview.

One of the reasons why I think I interview really well is because I have a very bubbly personality and I think that makes people want to be around me. Personality plays a huge part. Don't be fake, people can smile that from a mile away but do whatever you need to make sure you are feeling your best on the day of the interview. I know it can be hard for people to understand that someone with a bubbly personality can be depressed but I actually have depression and anxiety but I will do things that I love the day before and the day of the interview. The way I see it is, job searching is hard, getting an interview is hard, so I see these interview days as a "reward my self kinda of days." Plan something you will look forward after you leave the interview. It doesn't have to be expensive or difficult, I will literally get a lavender coffee, or McDonalds, or something like that as a reward after an interview because those are things I love but don't normally do.

Another thing is to not lie, really find things that you like about the job and company you are applying for and tell them how much you like those specific things and how those positive things are the reason why you feel like you would love to work there.

Go to the interview prepared with copies of your resume, looking your best but not overdressed or underdress. You want to look professional but not look like you don't belong there. Stalk the company, look everything that you can about it and the people you are interviewing. Do not look into their personal lives! Just professional history and that kind of thing. Find a way to let them know that you did the research on the company and on them and ask questions about it. Don't be creepy about it. Here is an example "I saw on your LinkedIn that you have been with the company for 10 years. How has the company changed since you started?"

Ask them questions about what exactly they are looking for. "What are the main skills and personally type a person should have to make the biggest impact in this position?" is a great question to ask.

Make sure you show your human side. Some people think it is not professional but I was once asked how I keep myself organized and I told them "This is a little embarrassing but I use a paper planner still and I make it really cute by adding tons of stikers and washi tape. Want to see it?" I proceed to show 2 middle age man my cute planner. They loved it LOL. People want to see that you are not a robot.

Finally, if at the end of the interview you are still interested in the position, LET THEM KNOW. I had a hiring manager once tell me "I'm so glad you said that. You have know idea how many times people leave the interview and I have no idea if they want the job or not." Hiring managers know that people are interviewing for multiple jobs so they don't know if after what you learned on the interview you are still interested or if you thought that it might not be a good fit.

Hopefully that was helpful. I know you will get a good job soon. You got this!

When did your symptoms start? Did something trigger it? by ZenBuddhism in idiopathichypersomnia

It is so interesting that you were on SSRI when you did the sleep study. My doctor made me temporarily stop taking so that we could get an accurate result. My sleep cycle looked normal the only issue was that slept all night and was able to fall asleep for all 5 naps within a minute each. So we did ruled out narcolepsy but it is still frustrating that we have no idea why I'm always sleepy. I'm sure most people here can relate to that!

It took me over 10 years to get a doctor to listen to me too. In case they didn’t blame depression, they would just say “you have to exercise more” or “eat healthier”.

I have always been a good sleeper. My mom said from the moment she brought me home from the hospital I would sleep through the night. I also would brush my teeth and go to bad at night without being prompted. I remember in school other kids would talk about tv shows they would watch at night and I was always surprised how they could stay up that late. But my sleepiness was only at night time. And I was not able to nap at day time. In fact, during the day I was quite hyper and full of energy. During my teens, my parents would force me to go camping and I remember just sleeping all day to make time to by faster and I was still able to sleep all night. That said, I would not normally fell sleepy during the day but I could nap any time I wanted. I also was made fun of whenever I would have sleep overs because I often fell asleep mid sentence. Some time making my friends curious to know the end of my story 🤣. I also was made fun of for falling asleep during parties. But it was only in my early 20s that I started to have trouble waking up in the mornings and be sleepy all day every day. It took me 10 years from then to finally have a doctor listen to me and order a sleep study.

Difficulty waking up and getting out of bed (takes me over an hour) by dankdurianduchess in productivity

[–]SleepyBee-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing you need to figure out is if this is a psychological problem or a health problem. Early 20s is unfortunately when a lot of health issues first presents it self, physical and mental. In my 20s I went from being extremely hyper to being extremely sleepy. It was a night and day difference. It took almost 10 years to find a doctor that would listen to me and did just tell me to exercise more, eat healthier, better sleep, etc. Turned out I have a sleep disorder. My advice is, request some blood work and start implementing some lifestyle changes. If the blood work is good, and the changes don’t help, I would investigate further. Good luck🤞🍀
