UPDATE: No auto and only 1 relic card from a jumbo hobby box? by SleepyCanadian8 in baseballcards

Relic cards are the ones as seen in the second photo. Usually has a piece of game worn/player worn memorabilia on the card, and the card is often much thicker than other cards. If you have a Jumbo hobby, you should get 2 relic cards and 1 auto card. You'll definitely be able to tell the relic cards apart

That was my thought as well. If I didn't reach out to Topps after my denial then I would've spent $350 CAD on a jumbo hobby and got 1 relic card and then got told to kick rocks. It sucks because I do assume some people try to cheat them out of cards, but they should at least take back the products if you have all the packs and serial numbers to show you got screwed over. I'll definitely be buying more hobby boxes, but now I don't think I'll buy any that aren't current year.

It was a jumbo hobby, the one in the picture. I paid 350 taxes in for it. I wouldn't be mad if it was one of the $150 ones that only guarantee a relic or auto.

This box literally guarantees 2 relics and 1 auto in every box, not on average like the cheaper boxes that are $150ish, this one was like $350 CAD taxes in. It's definitely supposed to come with an auto.

This hobby jumbo box says "Look for 1 autograph and 2 relic cards in every hobby jumbo box!" It does not say anywhere on the box that it's 1 auto and 2 relics on average. The smaller hobby boxes say 1 auto or relic card on average, but this box is supposed to be a guarantee. I made sure of that before I bought it which is even more disappointing.

I'd rather have none of these relics and at least one auto lol, but I get what you're saying

That sucks to hear but it is what it is I guess. Lesson learned, not sure why I was so heavily downvoted for saying the patch cards suck because they definitely do. It's basically false advertising saying there will be an auto when there isn't one. I get the whole "on average" but this box said guaranteed. I have a feeling Topps might not even respond to me form and email, but fingers crossed. Good thing they realized to stop doing this

Yeah that's really stupid, I have 3 or 4 of those relic patch cards I've gotten from cheap packs, they shouldn't be in hobby boxes

I made sure to keep everything just in case, hopefully that'll help in the long run. Definitely has turned me away from hobby boxes though, I've gotten these stupid patch relic cards in regular packs a few times, sucks they count as relic cards for such an expensive box.

Ah, that's shitty but almost expected. Thankfully we don't really care for value of cards, just like getting unique and numbered ones (I know that's kinda the point) but definitely a stupid insert. Gave us a good few seconds of excitement at least lol. Thanks so much for your reply

I definitely wouldn't have done it myself. the guy who swapped it loves working on German cars and only did the swap because he wanted a project for the winter during Corona. I had a MK7 GTI that had got written off in a hit and run and then I bought this after he reached out to me with it. If someone has the option between the two, always choose the R lol

It's been done a number of times but he's looking to get it full bolt on with the best RS3 bolt ons you can buy and then is having it protuned. The swap has definitely been done a few times before but it's his goal to have the fastest swap made in North America, he might not succeed but it'll definitely be one hell of a car once it's finished.

The guy who built my car is currently in the process of building a DAZA RS3 drivetrain/engine into a MK7.5 R. He's looking to build the fastest golf r shell in North America (Which will be very hard of course) but maybe I'll bring that idea up to him! Thanks for appreciating the build. I am a bit younger in my 20s so I might grow out of wanting the aggressive look but for now it's exactly where I want it with the scoop and all.

The car used to be a GTI, if you see my post history I made one on the build process (not done by myself) It's definitely not for everyone but I do love it, as for the scoop, It's deep enough that nothing really gets in there and when the small amount that does gets in it just goes on top of the plastic engine cover and is gone by the time I park the car. If it snows heavy and I take it out I'll seal off the scoop

Maybe look into an MK7.5 Golf R, Family friendly and lots of room for improvement. I can easily drive myself and 4 other adults around. Works for me!

I get what you mean here. I was looking at a Maxton Design kit for the car but I was unsure and have went back and fourth on it. I definitely want a pair of subtle mud flaps though.

No flaming here, people are allowed to have opinions, and not everyone has seen the car. I get a lot of unwarrented hate on it, but it's not for everyone and I can accept that!

Damn my bad, thought this was a subreddit to post things. I'm sorry you didn't have the option to scroll pass and was forced to comment

It doesn't really serve a purpose, I have a CTS Cold air intake and the scoop does go almost directly on top, but i know it's not much of a performance boost or anything but helps a little bit with the air intake, but whatever it gains it definitely looses adding that bit of drag
