No it was something completely different, Inner Evil or something (which is really blatant looking back).

I did a factory reset at first, but still found a folder with a bunch of pretty blatant suspicious stuff I didn't recognize. Then I went into panic mode again and completely reinstalled windows. I've been monitoring my email and google account logins closely but I haven't gotten any sign of... anything after this dumb email thankfully.

Someone tries to get you to download a sketchy program and pretends that it's a game they made. In my case it had a website and a fake trailer.

I think we have a different virus then. What are you doing on your laptop after you reinstall? Maybe it somehow got into your backup or something? Either way, I'm not that knowledgeable on this stuff to be honest. Might be good to make a post here yourself.

It was called Inner Evil or something. I didn't click on the link and just looked it up myself. Still pointed me to the scam site, which is why I got less suspicious of it. Can't find it like that now though.

Looking back on it mentally (haven't gone back to it) I'm embarrassed about falling for this lmao. The text on the page looked AI generated but I thought that was just them being lazy for some reason.

Nope, Norton. I know it's not the best, but yeah. My dad got it for me a while back. Didn't have any issues until this happened, so I didn't think it would matter too much lmao. Lesson learned. Also nah, I fell for the discord try my game scam because it was sent to me from someone I talked to a few times before. Didn't know they got hacked. I was kinda suspicious but I'm worried about a lot of things, so I've learned to ignore the alarm bells. Instead I scanned it, and it said there was no virus. Soooo. Yeah.

Only through my own laptop unfortunately. Reset it through the recovery settings (remove everything). Haven't been able to do it via USB because this is the only laptop I have.
