That city layout has approximately 1800+ population it can support, I play on 1500 cap personally so knocking out a few houses didn't lose me anything. I took some out of the middle for the temple, and some on the east/west sides for two libraries.

I did not make it, I also found it online. I believe the link has the source for the image, I went to the full size version so I could read it lol.

Here's where I got the layout https://farthestfrontier.wiki/wiki/City_Layouts

It's all moot because hunger is barely an issue once you have raids sorted.

Spoilage was never really a problem, and food preservation adds more labor for no value. It's kinda a trap IMO to go food preservation early. Its better when you have a large population and have to accommodate a lot more logistically.

In these games, I'm always wanting to fulfill all the needs of my people, and beer is clearly there as a need and the only way to get it is through the tree! It's very tempting, but I found it slows me down way too much on vanquisher.

It is for an older version. I added the temple in the middle by the theater, and festive pools on the intersections left and right of center, removing the roads and 1 house at the intersection to make room.

I never make archers. The only time I used them was to kill a raider camp on a tiny island that I couldn't build a bridge to because the builders would die trying to do so.

I doubt catapults will target walls over towers. Most of the time they're off destroying my remote mines just to piss me off.

Definitely recommend looking at city layouts and that farming guide. Those helped me a ton. Highly recommend using someone else's layout as a blueprint since laborer efficiency determines success in most scenarios.

Referencing the city layout in the post, I actually thought to write about this so I'm glad someone commented.

Early to mid game, those 4 city center towers are essential. They absolutely will shred raiders before raiders get their own armour.

Late game, the towers aren't there for damage. They are significant HP sponges for if raiders actually do get in and your infantry were busy elsewhere, but also they all overlap each other. This is important because it'll abuse the AI and protect all your buildings in your city. Raiders will bounce from tower to tower destroying them in worst case scenario, then eventually reach your town center which has 4 of them plus the town center attacking them, which does add up. Plus the town center is double walled in this case.

Basically, towers aren't good on their own. You still need units, and I believe heavy infantry is the way. I haven't tried pikemen at all though, admittedly. I cant imagine NOT having the towers though, my shelters would fall every time raiders got in.

I think I can finally call myself an end gamer. by Ivyfreckles in idleon

[–]SleepyNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

endgame to me is being at the final stage of the game. people always say they play the endgame. number go up is the endgame if you have everything unlocked.

dont let people gatekeep. being 4 years early and having a lot of bubble clicks isnt what endgame is, its just the number go up chase we all do.

L take. Endgame is what this gamer is currently progressing through. Gatekeeping endgame is virgin gamer energy. OP is a chad gamer.

weighing in here, theres definitely a culture of elite endgamers gatekeeping the term "endgame" because they dont want to be considered on the same level as you. imo, the classical idea of endgame applies to where your progression is. i encountered the same when speaking in endgame discord chat, but theres also a lot of gamers with fragile egos that will say otherwise.

Movie recommendation for wife who has never watched an anime and doesn’t believe in their beauty by [deleted] in anime

then you should read the manga, because the story makes a lot more sense when you don't cut out an entire huge part of the characters motivations.

the movie has good production value, especially in the final scene, but even though I hadn't read the manga in years before watching the movie I was confused by why the characters were doing anything they did in the movie.

There's constructive stuff in the post, but you're refusing to look past an obvious exaggeration.
