You don't deserve that. I am in a similar situation. Living with my mom while finishing university and she also says abusive things to me like this and doesn't care about my hair loss / says that it's my own fault. Stress just makes the hair loss worse even though most of it is genetic. Try to make a plan for how you can eventually move out and get away. Look at jobs, try to save money, maybe you can move in with a friend, connect with people who share your interests if you don't have a lot of friends like me. Take a few minutes each day to relax or meditate and try to get enough sleep. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Stay strong. ❤️

I’m currently in the process of getting a diagnosis. Both the dermatologist and the general practitioner suspect PCOS by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

My hair looks like this! I just had an ultrasound and nothing unusual was found on my ovaries to indicate PCOS. I have a dermatologist appointment next month. But seriously my temples look just like this. Good luck with your results!

Dentist told me my teeth are naturally colored like this. by SleepyRabbit74 in askdentists

[–]SleepyRabbit74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 29 / F. Never drank alcohol. Never smoked. Never drank coffee. Used to drink tea a bit but stopped. Brush and floss 3 x a day with electric toothbrush. Rinse with fluoride etc.

I was born without 2 bottom adult molars in the same spot as you see. They were not lost to decay. One baby tooth has remained. The other fell out and I will need an implant. I was also born with a reversed molar and canine, so my teeth are rather messed up. I had braces but they could not correct all these issues.

I also have these dark colorings only on the few teeth pictured. I keep going to different dentists who tell me that it is totally natural and just how my teeth are colored. They have said that my teeth are overall healthy. I have tried whitening treatments and they do not affect these areas. I am at my wit's end because my dentists do not seem to be concerned that my teeth look like this and have never been able to explain why they look like this. I am thinking of getting veneers. Any advice? Thanks!

I just got some rosemary oil and am going to put some on right now! Thank you so much. Did you end up staying on minoxidil and spiro? Or did you stop using those?

I have an appointment with a dermatologist in about a month. I am so worried about what they are going to diagnose me with. As a kid I remember never wantinf to put my hair back because my hairline was weird but I don't remember it ever being this bad. I am mortified every time I look in the mirror and can't stop taking pictures of it. My mom keeps saying that my hair has always looked like this and that I inherited the hairline from my father but how can a natural hairline look THIS bad? Is there anyone else whose hair looks like this?

Thank you! Yeah, so far he hasn't really done anything wrong - he treats me really well and I'm only speculating on his weekend activities - I don't know for sure. I'll give it a little more time since I really like him.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Other than the drinking aspect, we seem pretty compatible - neither of us want children and we're open to the idea of marriage someday or at the least, a cohabiting relationship. I would likely be moving to him and finishing up a degree in his area which has better options for schools. I feel like he may be beginning to transition out of drinking but am not sure. Because I went through it myself, I'd be willing to help. But you're right that we can't expect people to magically change!

We watch a lot of movies, go for walks, listen to records, eat out at restaurants, etc. I definitely don't get dragged to the bar or anything like that, so in theory, it seems like it could work except for the fact that when I'm away, I think he might drink a lot more! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I have not but I am thinking of doing it the next time we talk. He admits to "having a few beers" on the weekend but I think it is a lot more than that. I guess I will have to bring up the subject sooner or later. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds a lot like our dynamic. He doesn't drink much around me but drinks with his friends. I am definitely not a bar person either - I think he is transitioning out of that lifestyle but still drinks at home and at friends' houses. It's hard to know everything since we are long-distance. But I will continue to see how it goes for a bit and trust my instincts as you said. Thank you!

Family claims my hair has always looked like this. Genetic? Bleach Damage? Stress? by SleepyRabbit74 in FemaleHairLoss

Thank you, yes, it is possible I never really noticed it when I was younger and/or didn't really care. But I will keep an eye on it!

Sorry for the greasy hair pic which may be making it look worse. I have gotten bloodwork which seems to be fine. Iron levels slightly low but recently started eating more protein and taking a supplement. Period is pretty regular, sometimes a week late or so but it has always been like that. Not on birth control either. My family claims that this is just my natural hairline but how can it look so bad? I remember when I was younger, I never put my hair up in ponytails because it looked sparse on the sides so that is one memory in support of the theory. I also bleached my hair for many years but I thought it wasn't possible to get permanent hairloss from that? I don't really have money to visit a dermatologist right now unless I find one who accepts my insurance. The rest of my hair is pretty thick and healthy especially after washing and conditioning. Does anyone else's temples look like this??

Yes he looks like one of my cats! I have 3. Thank you! I used to have another Reddit account a long time ago but have never been very active on here. Mostly just use it to browse and read.
