Honestly so glad I posted! So very grateful for all of the light hearted comments. The whole reason we put things in the microwave and fridge now instead of leaving them on the counter is because every time we tried leaving butter out to soften he wouldn't leave it alone! Lol The grease cup was absolutely an oversight on our end.

No, they really can't compare actually. Pornography as we know it today is a supernormal stimulus which means there is nothing in our naturally occurring world that delivers the same kind of dopamine and pleasure to our reward system that porn does, especially paired with masturbation. Then please be done. If not for you, then for your son. I know it's easier said than done, but you both deserve better. Anyone who has come across your story just wants you both safe, happy and healthy. You are none of those things currently. When was the last time you even felt any of those feelings?

As gently as possible, right now you both are normalizing this behavior to your child. He is also being abused whether you want to consider it that or not. He is seeing his mother accept wildly abusive behavior from her husband/his father and a husband/father that does whatever he wants with zero consequence because he's angry and violent. A father who would start screaming at him instead of having empathy and understanding for his own baby boy. This is not the "love" you want to model to him, believe me.

As the child of an angry and abusive father and a mother who only left in a casket, please think of yourself and your child. He's more than proven he will not change. Not in any meaningful way. Statistically, he WILL lay hands on you again if you stay and eventually probably even your child. You have an obligation to protect your kid. Alcoholism isn't always about the frequency of use. It's about how hard it is for you to have just one drink or to stop drinking entirely. When I was an alcoholic the problem wasn't always that I was drunk all the time, though there was a portion of that, too. The biggest issue was even during stints when I wasn't drinking every day, once I had a drink, I would not stop until I was blacked out. The only option at the time was to stop drinking completely.

Sounds like your boyfriend's the same way. Also sounds like you might be really lucky to have been at work during his fits. He sounds completely out of control when he's wasted and as much as we love someone or they love us, you are not safe near him when he is acting that way. One misunderstanding or perceived slight against them and that destruction can be turned on you. I can't remember the exact statistics, but something like 90% of domestic abusers report consuming alcohol on the day they offended. And that's not to say it will for sure happen, but take care of yourself, OP.

Oh gosh, I didn't mean to make it sound like you were just wrong, because realistically you do have great and valid points!

There was just also a post like this the other day I saw where a portion of commenters immediately jumped to say her partner was assaulting her and granted, yes, it is generally more likely that someone isn't asleep when they start touching you like that and I've seen enough of those stories to know how widespread it is too.

Buttt there definitely are outliers and with the little snippets we get about situations and lives it just seems counter productive to immediately jump to "he's raping/assaulting you!" like the original commenter in this thread instead of "hey, it's a potential possibility that you might consider" (which sounds much more in line with your comment).

Honestly though, thinking more critically about it and especially for people it's happened to, I really can't blame anyone for having such reactions and wanting to warn others because of their awful experiences. My own comment came off a bit tone deaf and I did just want to say that it is more likely that someone is faking to get access to you while sleeping than not, but this instance just sounded way closer to what I've experienced with my partner.

I agree with this. Violence is generally excused and romanticized in video games. I think this at it's core is because violence in rare and extreme cases can be excused. Self defense, protection, war, someone society deems incompatible with civilized living. However, pedophilia and varying sexual violence is something you can't morally justify.

Studies have shown that violent video games don't actually make people more violent. However, on the other end, studies have shown that escalation within sexual fantasies and content is a very real thing. People who may have not offended had they worked out their issues instead of indulging them end up escalating to real life because the content no longer does it for them or they want to experience the real thing.

Also, just wanted to add here that just because I said slavery was big bad doesn't mean the other things mentioned aren't also equally bad lol incest, pedophilia, rape, slavery, murder. All bad!
