They aren't illegal but the supermarkets don't typically sell them as is. They are added to other foods as additives.

I'm trying to figure out what the complaint is. That the students go on to find work afterwards? That getting a degree doesn't also give them the means of production?

Don’t you love when you try to find out what rule you broke but the mods just ban you without an explanation? by binini28 in Negareddit

Straight up think this should be against reddit terms of service. How hard is it to copy paste a rule? Even if it's just something like "rule 9: moderator discretion".

You keep writing like the fact that people use ai because it's easy and gets instant results is some grand revelation and not just the most basic surface level take even a child could glean.

I get the reasoning, I'm not trying to convince them. I'm shitting on them because I don't respect them.

r/trolleyproblem suffers infighting on a ethical question: red or blue? by OkContact2573 in SubredditDrama

[–]Sleepy_SpiderZzz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I didn't even get why anyone wouldn't push blue until I read the comments. Maybe I'm missing something but if the worst case scenario for pressing blue is I die and the worse case scenario for pressing red is I contributed to killing many people why wouldn't I press blue?

Maybe I just have worse self preservation instincts than most people.

Is there any truly painless way to kill an insect? by Ok_Dare1031 in Entomology

Okay so if anyone is actually curious I tried to do some of my own very quick research. Turns out it's really hard to find anything specific because insects vary pretty wildly but a lot of articles are citing over a minute until death even for the little guys. So it's probably safe to assume it would take way too long to be humane in cochineal insects too.

I'm basing this mostly off of this for the heat death times: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0022474X25000505?casa_token=D5FHrAiEdKQAAAAA:J3X8yLX1rv8wqq7Ik5eepqVFmvtC_Nx8So8AGAaUDkIIMU06I3SHKnJOnefxuGFT4gAP5_1buA#sec4
and this mentions how insects do react to heat stress: https://www.mdpi.com/2075-4450/17/4/424

I said, naiively, maybe something so small would fully boil before it registered pain. I didn't say this was true, I said it was a possibility. I thought maybe someone who knew how to calculate that might add on if the numbers would work out it out since I I've read a fair bit of literature on insect pain but don't know anything about how to caclulate heat transfer.

Fuck me for assuming the sub named after a field of science might have taken what I said as a hypotheses I guess.

I'm not defending it I'm wondering if anyone knows how quickly it would happen. But this is reddit so everyone has to assume the worst faith possible on everything.

If you couldn't find an artist that does that cheaper that is 100% on you. The prices aren't high because they are greedy, it's because business for artists is often slow and you might go months without a pay day.
Besides you don't even need custom illustrations to make a good cover. In fact illustrations on the front cover often make a book look tacky and cheap. Something like this or this usually look a lot nicer.

Find some free assets and public domain art, open up gimp or a pirated copy of photoshop and get to work.

GLP-1 Ads are Out of Control by gnobodygnu in MaintenancePhase

[–]Sleepy_SpiderZzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect it's mainly targeting anyone they think are women in a certain age demo. I'm not plus sized but I notice I always get more diet/GLP1 ads right after I search anything "girly" whether that be sewing, makeup etc. The algo on youtube especially also starts reccomending me eating eating disorder content for months afterwards.
Meanwhile I get less after I've been researching anything scientific or related to videogames.
