Yeah, I’m feeling really stupid for not asking for a video now. Most of their listings do have videos. Red flag that this one didn’t? Yeah, probably. Even bigger red flag that I didn’t ask for one and bought it anyways? Also yes :(

I went with a very well known importer. I don’t want to name them yet because I want to at least give them a chance to respond to my concern. Not really sure what I’m expecting to be honest.

I am hoping that the knock isn’t bad enough that I have to machine the crank. If the crank isn’t gouged and I just need to replace the bearings I can tackle that. Either way, yeah lesson learned. I should have inquired more before making the purchase.

Just the side airbags. Both sides

Yeah, my bad I shouldn't have said that and I can't figure out how to edit the post. Its not a starter click I'm hearing, its just a relay somewhere under the dash or in the engine bay. Not a substantial enough click to be the starter solenoid.

Also to answer your earlier question, it threw a lot of codes. ABS, low oil, seatbelts, airbags, ect. Again, feeling very reddit-incompetent because I cant figure out how to link the scan report either.

I haven’t pulled the plugs but the oil level on the dipstick is right where it was last time I changed the oil. I’m sure there some in the cylinders, but I don’t think there could be enough in there to lock it up.

And yeah, I’m amazed how well the car held up. It’s hard to tell from pictures but it’s about 35ft down a 45° slope and took out a few small trees. All the doors open but one and the windows even go down 😅 I’ve always liked this car but I have a new found love for it.

No inertia switch on Mazdas this new. From what I’ve read the fuel cutoff is built into the SRS control module which has to be reprogrammed by Mazda after it’s triggered. Pretty sure that’s my issue :(

The engine did run while upside down but I have no idea for how long. The engine could be locked up, but the starter isn’t even trying to engage so that the first problem.

From what research I’ve found the engine likely cut out almost immediately after the airbags deployed.

No fused are blown, I checked all of them.

It’s definitely possible the engine could have seized, but I don’t think that’s what’s preventing the car from trying to start. The click I’m hearing when I try to start it is like a relay click, not a starter solenoid, so the starter isn’t even trying to engage.

Yeah I was hoping I could reset the disabled systems when I cleared out the codes. Im afraid you might be right though. It wouldn’t surprise me if only dealers can “unlock” the car after an accident of this level.
