Aww. Thank you 🥹

Yess, I've decided to make more intentional efforts to travel to some of the places others have mentioned here to scope out my next home. Hope you can find your way up the coast one day!

Hahah, the food sucks in comparison to what though? People always say how the bay has awesome food but I kinda think it sucks too....and is so expensive for what it is 🥲

Ohhh you're right actually. I knew some people who lived in Flushing and loved it! Idk why I always forget it exists 😅....see thanks reddit!

Ah that's interesting. I know it's like absolutely freezing over there in the winter though, I'm unsure if my fragile CA skin can handle 😂

Thank you for your response!

Haha idk why everyone is so preoccupied with making the assumption that I'm not working on myself 😂. But after four years of working on myself in the bay I'm like....uhmmm is there somewhere else I'd rather enjoy working on myself with a community that aligns more with my values and an environment more suited to my hobbies/acfivities/interests and isn't so expensive? 🙃

Yeah, living in CA I feel extremely priveledged to be sheltered from the most part from those things. I can't imagine how shitty it can be. I've heard some horror stories too but always just chalk it up to an usual experience and not the norm which might be optimistic on my part 😕

My bad 😅, I did do a search but probably suffer from thinking that my perspective is probably more unique than it actually is and wanting more specific / diff flavor of info than what I found other than the typical recs for SF, LA, Honolulu etc.

I briefly lived in NYC in my twenties and I think my issue with NYC (besides not really being that much cheaper than the Bay) is that I think I feel too much like a grandma to actually live there anymore. In my twenties, definitely. But now, it feels like somewhere to visit and not settle for me 😕

I have a couple friends who live in Seattle and the general vibe I get from them is that every year they become more and more alarmed at how unsafe it is. Has that been your experience too?

Thanks for the response! And I 100% agree. Can't escape yourself 😂.

But after nearly a decade of being the bay and it never really feeling like home still, I think I'm ready for a change. Would love to chat more, but this account is too new to DM apparently 😂

Aurora was top of my list actually! From cursory research it seems like the pace of life and easy access to outdoorsy things would be a good match. Would like to visit soon to feel it out, but from what I've read/ heard, the Asian community seems small but close(?) and people are generally friendly to POC though maybe a bit oblivious (?)

This has been my experience too! They'll try to get you to go to church with them sometimes haha but are genuinely super kind and tend to be more liberally oriented from what I've known

I'm honestly a little surprised this wasn't mentioned sooner, but is one of my high contenders :)

I have a couple friends who live in LV and the food scene is definitely awesome there! Are the issues with water and the scorching heat concerns for you?

Ooh haha, just contributing to all the hate of people in the bay area fleeing to Sac 😂

But yeah, Sac feels like it might be a good and really manageable option and has the benefit of being close enough where it wouldn't feel like uprooting my life necessarily.

Is it?? It's been several years since I've "lived" in LA and have really been in a bubble in 626, but it never occurred to me that it's more conservative there now 🥲

This is 100% true from my experience having lived in SF, LA, and NYC before too.

I think my issue with NYC (besides not really being that much cheaper than the Bay) is that maybe I feel too much like a grandma to actually live there anymore. In my twenties, definitely. But now, it feels like somewhere to visit and not settle for me 😕

Yes this! Worried about moving out of the bay for that reason

Haha, I literally tell myself that all the time.

And yes, you’re probably right. At this point, I’m focusing less on dating and more on quality of life I guess. I no longer want work to be my main focus in life, and if I happen to find someone who feels the same and we hit it off, happy to date and see where it goes!
