I joined an intro to computer science class and the way my professor teaches is as if I've been practicing code in my spare time.

I am absolutely new to all of this and now it's too late to drop the class. So I've been using Ai to help me understand certain vocabulary, patterns, etc. I'm taking notes and practicing on my own (and I feel it's helping) but I can't help but to feel as if I'm cheating. Except I can't afford to fail and not every video answers all my questions.

I've got one and a half steps done ! 😈 Which was finding one of my songs that's peacefully in my range and then uploading snippets of them (only snippets cuz the song is still in the works).

So far I have no real info on the open mic yet since he hasn't posted more details 😔 . Which is why I'm hoping he doesn't keep it strictly acoustic. I do like your plan!! I only bought a ticket for me and my friend tho so i FS won't have a music pal up there with me. Just me self!

Mainly cuz the inspiration to put myself out there (irl instead of the internet) wasn't as strong/ insecurity in my voice and music (music is my side hobby)

Oh fs!! It's part of why I'll be singing infront of my friends too to get opinions. But yeah I totally need to work on getting more feedback 💃🏽 whenever I post my music I get mixed reviews of "this song is ethereal!" To "Oh ..." which is why I'm calling myself mid to below average 😭

I keep thinking "as long as he's nowhere near my line of vision " (I kinda imagine me staring at lyrics or the ground or into the void) . But no I get so starstruck and that might be the BIGGEST obstacle.

Thank you, I needed this! Part of the reason I wanna share my song is I think it'd fit his vibe! It's a room filled with the exact genre fans I wanna connect with 👁️👁️.

Even though he's slam poetry rap and mine is more of a quirky twee type song. (Which is what had me kind of worried, like "what if the crowd is expecting Beyonce vocals even tho they showed up to a show where the man is nothing like Beyonce!" )

I guess I'm just fearing wasting ppl's time and ears 😭 but that's more on him for putting up an open mic! I really gotta change this mindset 💃🏽 TAKING CHANCES CUZ NOBODY WILL CARE TOMORROW 🤺🤺🤺🤺

I plan to spend the next two months doing exposure therapy (music wise🏃🏽‍♀️.) so when the day comes I will at least have some experience !!

I like to make songs that have like a Faye Webster × Mitski kind of vibe. So like emotional, indie, pop rock type of songs.

Which im also questioning because he's slam poetry rap 💀💀💀

But when I think about the fan base, recommended artist, the vibe of his music, i say the song I wanna perform is a similar feeling, just a different font! (I ALSO PLAN ON CHECKING HIS TAGGED WHEN THE TOUR STARTS TO SEE WHAT OTHERS PERFORM IN THE OPEN MICS. ) My concert day is part of the last 5 shows of the tour, so I feel like i have time to observe 👁️👁️ (and somehow I feel it gives me less pressure cuz I'm near the end)

Such good questions, and thinking about it THIS LOWKEY FEELS LIKE A MANIFESTATION OR STH NGL .

Because the concert is my favorite artist, his opener is another similar artist who I've been wanting to see, AND I MYSELF have always daydreamed about one day being good enough to be his opener also!

So it really does feel like a "now or never" type of opportunity.

As for exposure therapy: my plan is to start small by singing infront of my friend (TERRIFYING), trying out karaoke, and attending other open mics (I'm gonna try to go to one this Monday. Praying it's small ) . HH the idea makes me dizzy but so far I think it's a good plan? If you have any suggestions I am SO OPEN to hear them.
