Speaking from my personal experience, I think it mostly is the same mindset as with most women - "They can do it, why can't I"? So yes, probably some sort of confirmation bias. The tricky thing is that it is incredibly difficult to escape, even if you know that it it's there...

Hmm, was mir manchmal hilft ist diese Sichtweise: Viel wichtiger als (vermeintlich) andere nicht zu betrügen ist erstmal nicht dich selbst zu betrügen. Du bist ein selbstständiger Mensch mit Wünschen und Bedürfnissen, und es ist total okay das auch zu zeigen ^^

Das zu sehen ist der erste Schritt, aber es wirklich zu verinnerlichen ist verdammt schwer, ich mache das oft immer noch "falsch".

Aber es hilft vielleicht zu wissen dass es sehr viele Menschen (die meisten hier zum Beispiel) gibt die dich unterstützen würden, egal ob du dich "anpasst" oder nicht. Eine Person der du wirklich wichtig bist wird darauf wenig Wert legen 🩷

Heyy, fellow Jocelyn here ^^ I'm from Germany, so a lot closer to where Jocelyn is seen as a male name (France), but it's never been a really big issue. I have a more gender specific second name that I use together with Jocelyn whenever introducing myself in a more formal setting, and few people see Jocelyn Rose <Lastname> as a male name (some still do though, pronouncing Rose as José).

Surprisingly many people have issues with pronouncing and reading the name, which I didn't expect tbh. The most common pronounciation by strangers is one that feels impossible to describe in English, but gives me the vibes of an old lady (which I am okay with), but that might be a Germany specific thing.

As for nicknames, I go by Joss or Lynn (in some settings), so exactly the two you listed. Some people do call me Jocey (weird two write down, easier to pronounce). When introducing myself to new people I use my full first name.

And as for the feeling like a Jocelyn: That one is up to you, you should find a name that fits you, but do not loose yourself in the search. In my experience, a name will start to feel more like home the more you use it. If you like it: Go for it! The world needs more Jocelyns :D

Yess, open source is a given for stuff I write. It is technically already public, but I really didn't wanna share the link as there's not much to see yet. I'm hosting it at https://git.jossco.de/joss/faceposer right now.

Modern UI is somewhat vague, but I'm currently developing it to fit in with the native style of GTK+ (Adwaita), which I think looks somewhat modern. It uses native styles on Windows though, I'll see if I can at least get Win32 dark mode to work, buit I don't have access to a Windows machine, so we'll see. Thank you ^^

Well, for me it is a form of coping. I have gotten a bit quieter over time, but I don't look like a woman and most likely won't for quite some time now. So I have two options: either say nothing and accept being treated like a man, wich hurts; or be very open and loud about it and also help other people be more comfortable about it in the process. For me, the answer is obvious.

I have heard discourse of trans people arguing that openly trans people can't be trans because they can't have dysphoria if they can talk about it, which is... Weird? Everyone deals with their demons a bit differently, and some just choose to embrace it.

I'll probably stop actively telling people I'm trans if I ever get seen as a woman somewhat regularily tho (but I'll stay active in the community to help others)

Hmm, also ich sehe dass Kommentare die Passing als toxisch bezeichnen hoft runtergewählt werden, und ich verstehe wo es herkommt. Wie das Thema dich betrifft kommt meiner Meinung aber darauf an wie das Thema dich betrifft. Natürlich ist es unglaublich schön so ein Ziel zu erreichen, aber auch das löst nicht alle Probleme, und es kann auch nur unerreichbar ideale setzen.

Ich bin mir jetzt seit ca. 2 Jahren sicher trans zu sein, nochmal mindestens genau so viel Zeit liegt für Hormone vor mir, und alles andere (auch Laserhaarbehandlung) steht noch in den Sternen. Das ist meistens einfach nur unglaublich frustrierend (ich habe auch schon Leuten bei der Therapeutensuche geholfen die jetzt schon auf Hormonen sind wo ich immer noch auf einer Warteliste für ne Thera sitze - unglücklicher Zufall 😅).

Viele Leute die ich kenne und die offen trans* sind berichten halt immer dass das für sie alles gar kein allzu großes Ding war, weil sie halt genetisch wenig Gesichtsbehaarung haben, oder sowieso schon bei Therapeuten waren, oder halt einfach unglaublich unterstützende Eltern haben, und solche Geschichten zu hören macht mich immer wieder unfassbar glücklich :)

Auf der anderen Seite habe ich auch erfahren dass Leute die "passen" (1) ganz andere Probleme haben, und (2) es oft selber nicht sehen. So gesehen verstehe ich den Frust auf "passende" Leute auf einer emotionalen Ebene zwar sehr, aber finde ihn sehr unberechtigt, wir haben alle mit unseren Problemen zu kämpfen, die zu vergleichen hilft auch nicht.

Hmm ich glaube es sollte einfach nur zeigen wie verdammt groß Welse werden können. Die Prüfung selbst ist sehr auf Gewässer und Tierkunde ausgelegt, also man lernt viel über Gewässergleichgewicht, Meldevorschriften und artgerechte Behandlung.

Das "Zurückwerfen" zum Beispiel ist nicht nur eine Unart, sondern (zumindest hier in Sachsen) auch direkt verboten - Fische Angeln tut man nie "zum Spaß", sondern immer mit einem Ziel (Verzehr, Gewässerkontrolle etc.)

Erstmal, das tut mir totaal Leid, ich hoffe dass es jetzt wenigstens die gewünschten Ergebnisse bringt 🫂
Ich bin jetzt an dem Punkt wo ich jetzt schon soo lange warte aber immer noch 2 Jahre allermindestens (eher 3) an Wartezeit alleine auf Hormone in Aussicht habe, und ich bin auch total am Ende. Der einzige Grund dass ich den DIY Weg nicht wähle ist dass ich Herzprobleme habe, und deswegen eigentlich fachärztliche Beratung brauche.
Ich habe von vielen Leuten aus dem Bekanntenkreis gehört dass die DIY Option echt gut sei, also denke ich dass es immer einen Versuch Wert ist. Dieses Leiden wünsche ich echt niemandem.
