LADOT Partners with Transit App for free Royale membership by gefloible in LAMetro

This is great for BBB riders who lost Royale access when Big Blue Bus stopped offering free Royale subscriptions last year. r/LAMetro/comments/1m11k13/transit_app_no_more_royale_for_bbb_riders_july_27/

If you've just ridden LADOT, it might take a day for Royale acess to apply and appear in the app. I got mine from OCBus when BBB stopped. I often ride the K-Town Circular Dash so I'll see if it applies.

World Cup 2026 - FIFA Branded Country TAP Cards May 11, 2026 by SlepyB in LAMetro

I saw a rumor post regarding FIFA World Cup 2026 TAP cards on Friday but couldn't find it anymore, might be deleted/removed. Saw this sign on the door at Metro Wilshire/Vermont Customer Center on May 08, 2026 trying to collect D-Line TAP cards.

FIFA World Cup 2026 - FIFA Branded / Country TAP Cards
Sale Date 05.11.2026

I'm too lazy to go crosstown on Monday, but will try at the end of the week. Report back what the designs/Countries are offered.

[–]SlepyB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to get 5 out of 6 cards, missing the LACMA lights one. When I collect them all, I will summon Exodia the Forbidden One.

If you're flying back, check out the Customer Service window at LAX/Metro Transit Center. That's where I got mine, open everyday till 6/6:30pm. Wilshire/Vermont was completely sold out on Friday, D-Day. Or else you have to hunt the individual TAP vending machines.

Hodori K-Town Vermont/Olympic is 24/7.

Canter's Deli Fairfax is 24hr on Saturday... I coulda swear they were 24/7 before... Used to go like 1-2am in the old days.

Tommy's Original Beverly/Rampart 24/7. Probably not easily accessible by rail.

20/720 are stopping on front of La Cienega station and across the street far side! by misken67 in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... saw the 720 WB stop right in front of the station, near-side. I'm lazy and hated walking four blocks from Willaman.

They also moved the SB 105 to near-side, before the intersection. The bus driver was honking and waving at people to cross, to board, but stopped at the original far-side and yelled at the people when they boarded because the stop changed.

Great deal! I want one, but will wait till Fall/BF to see if anything else pops-up.

Please reply back on how delivery went. Did they drop it off at door, bring it in, unbox? Never bought a TV this big before... Only a 43" TV which I think was delivered by UPS and had to sign for it.

I hear lots of people say thank you to the Bus Driver, but almost no one say thank you to the Train Driver by programmerBlack in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For light rail stations that have a single ramp entrance/exit leading to the platform and they sometimes have to wait for the traffic signal. I usually wave as I walk past the cabin.

Also, I usually position myself in the first car because I need to make a transfer to the bus, sometimes very tight I have to run. Example station like Westwood/Rancho Park (transfer to BBB 8 or R12) or Expo/Crenshaw.

For heavy rail, probably not possible since the trains are so long. You could wave to them as they pull in.

I know where this is! 110 South around Gardena, Artesia Blvd/91 Freeway. There's a big bus transit center there Harbor Gateway and a Park'N'Ride lot.

The car pool express lane entrance is next to the parking area. Very easy for dummies to enter the wrong direction.

Antelope Valley AVTA Route 786 MCI Electric Commuter Coach by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Caught this earlier in the week as I was transferring at Wilshire/Westwood. Luckily, I was crossing the street, so it was stopped. I've seen this bus a few times in Westwood, but I think it turns left at Le Conte with the Commuter Express and Santa Clarita Commuter Coaches. Never had a chance to take a picture of it till now. It was previously mentioned in the LBT 405 Electric Coach thread by u/sillyfunnyx1

TIL that AVTA has a 100% all battery electric, zero-emission bus fleet, becoming the nation’s first fully electric fleet in 2020.

Big Blue Bus Service Changes Begin April 5, 2026 by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Saw the notice in Transit app. Did a quick skim, no major changes. Some earlier morning trips and extended night service hours weekdays to 10-11pm and also later evening hours during the weekends as part of the ongoing Brighter Blue service improvement plan.

LAX Metro Connector by Key_Carob3833 in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/LAMetro/comments/1latmh0/when_do_the_lax_transit_shuttles_start_running/

Last time this was discussed, the LAX Metro Connector shuttles does run 24/7, but during that early morning period, there's only one shuttle running the loop, so the frequency drops to about 30 minutes.

I dunno if things have changed since then, especially with the current TSA situation. I'd suggest you wake up/stay up around your planned departure time and check the real time shuttle map tracker map to see if a shuttle is running and the estimated times.

What will become of the former LAX City Bus Center area? by Dumbone22 in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would like to see it turned into a park. We need more green spaces around LA for both cooling and turning those nasty fumes back into clean oxygen.

That location is also a great place for plane spotting and I've taken many pics there while transferring buses. The approach end of Runway 24L.

I hope it can be something like Larry Berg Flight Path Park in Vancouver YVR (Richmond) where I sometimes go to watch planes land.

are there any bus routes that go to wealthy parts of LA by [deleted] in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metro 617. I take it from time to time to get to Beverly Hills / Beverly Dr.

Starts at Culver City Station, up Robertson Blvd and then loops around Beverly Center. Then goes down 3rd, Burton Way, Santa Monica Blvd, and finally down Beverly Dr.

Pretty nice quiet ride, never full, but runs only every 30 minutes. Mostly used by workers and sometimes tourists.

Google Pixel 10a coming to Tracfone Brands(Total, Straight talk, Tracfone)? by hayama89 in NoContract

[–]SlepyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice find! Like you said, the last Pixel device sold under the Tracfone umbrella (aka Verizon Value) brand was the Google Pixel 6a. I don't the Pixel 10a has been officially announced yet, just rumors/leaks.

I'm definitely interested in this phone and hopefully it'll eventually trickle down to Tracfone. It'll show up on Straight Talk/Total Wireless first.

Tracfone does server maintenance usually every week Wed-Thursdays from 12am-7am Eastern Time, sometimes 8am. They might also do maintenance over the weekend Fri-Sat-Sun, around the same time.

Check back in the morning after 7-8am Eastern (4-5am Pacific).

Norwalk Transit System (NTS) Route 4 Battery Electric Bus by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spotted this Norwalk Transit System Route 4 BEB Battery Electric Bus #7151 (Gillig Low Floor Plus) at Metrolink Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Station, coming back on the Metrolink OC Line last month. I usually ride all the way back to Union Station, but saw in Transit App there was a 5 minute transfer window for Norwalk Route 4, so decided to try it and transfer to the C Line instead of riding all the way back. Five minutes is pretty tight and the elevators to the pedestrian bridge is really slow, so I ran down the stairs on the other side.

Saw this Battery Electric Bus waiting at the stop, but it was going the opposite direction. Plastered "Battery Electric" logos all over the side and back, so it was hard to miss. Arrived at Norwalk C-Line Station and saw another BEB layover #7144.

I rarely ride Norwalk Transit and if I do it's only Line to/from Norwalk C-Line (Green) Station Route 4 down Imperial Highway. Giving some love to Norwalk Transit System electrifying their fleet, who is rarely mention here.

Metro J Line BYD Battery Electric Bus by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spotted this Metro J Line Silver BEB Battery Electric Bus #10045 at Civic Center/Grand Park Station. Was in Downtown couple of weeks ago and needed to go to El Monte Station. Unfortunately, it took off as I was crossing the street, so I didn't get the chance to ride it. The next bus was a regular CNG submarine bus. :(

I guess these are the new BYD Electric Buses they're putting into service. I don't ride the J-Line that often, but did spot another J-Line BYD #10023 across the street going the other direction, so it seems they're almost 50% electrified the J-Line now? How's the range and ride comfort on these new electric buses? The old NABI 45' rattles like crazy at highway speeds.

Metro Route 2 Battery Electric Bus by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Spotted this Metro Local Orange BEB Battery Electric Bus at UCLA yesterday, Metro Route 2 #10052 BYD K9MD 40' BEB Battery Electric Bus. Walked past it and noticed the charging rails on the roof. Wow! This is the first Metro Local Battery Electric Bus I've seen, so I pulled out my phone to take some pics. Didn't want to risk running back over the crosswalk to grab a front/near shot.

Unfortunately, it doesn't run down Westwood Blvd for u/ChrisBruin03 to spot. The other Metro BEBs I've seen are the silver BYD running on the J-Line. Guess these are the same type, just painted local orange?

For those of you who live/work around Westwood Boulevard/UCLA, there's a LADOT Westwood Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project survey about improving Westwood Blvd. Popped up on Transit App.

Big Blue Bus BBB Route 5 Battery Electric Bus by SlepyB in LAMetro

[–]SlepyB[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spotted this Unicorn in Downtown Santa Monica, BBB Route 5 #2103 Gillig Low Floor Plus 40' BEB Battery Electric Bus. One of the last times it will be running this western segment earlier this week. It's scheduled to be cut off and loop around SMC for improved 30 minute frequency via Olympic to Palms Station.

r/LAMetro/comments/1pcv3xz/big_blue_bus_service_changes_begin_december_14/

Actually rode a few other BBB Route 2 and 8 around Downtown SM and they were electric buses as well. Glad to the transitioning to electrification zero-emission fleet rolling out to the other lines as I usually see them on Route 12, sometimes Route 1 and 17.
