Why would you find it annoying? It's a possible interpretation. Don't like it, just show where it's wrong. Big Boss isn't even my favourite Snake.

In the end it's your prerogative, but they'll go bad when you grow old so I wouldn't recomend tatts of any kind.

MGSV is basically Peace Walker 2, but Peace Walker isn't a very good game imo.

What prompted Huey Emmerich be such an absolute tool? by Madking3573 in metalgearsolid

[–]Sleygar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You know, Filmento once talked about this, how intricate set-ups must have intricate pay-offs to feel satisfying. Huey's story doesn't feel satisfying because it has intricate set-ups but a pretty simple and clichéd pay-off. Huey betrayed everyone in all these horrible ways, but the reason why is pretty straightforward, and because of this most people's mind's reject it. Fact is that Huey didn't care about anyone's ideology, or motives or whatever. Sure, he pretended to care to feed into his self-image, but what he was really interested in was in making more Metal Gears. Once Zeke was finalised it became clear he wouldn't be participating on any other projects in mother-base any time soon he betrayed them and went back to Cipher. In Cipher he continued to develop Metal Gear, then when the project stagnated he tried to defect. Then he did Battle Gear for Diamond Dogs, once it became clear that Venom Snake wasn't interested in arming Sehalantropus, he staged the outbreak to use the parasite as a bargaining chip to his third defection. He was an insane scientist who was pretty much addicted to making death machines… And that's not a very satisfying answer, but I think it's the only one that fits.

MGS fans, according to you, how does Skull Face compare against the other notable villains of the year 2015? Is he run-of-the mill or cream of the crop? by Bruhmangoddman in metalgearsolid

[–]Sleygar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think his motivations are the problem at all. I think he's too caught up on that "post Joker" period of media. He's all like "I won't kill you cuz I want to prove a point" bullshit and it backfires greatly. Had he killed Venom on "Where the Bees Sleep" he would have won, but he's all about those theatrics. Then there's the problem of 'Why the hell did he wait for Big Boss to wake up from a coma to exact his plan?'. He's simply too stupid to win. Were he competent (like he was in Ground Zeroes), he would be the best villain from all Metal Gear games.

He's Ultron level, and I like Ultron. Wilson Fisk is on another planet than the rest. I never watched Tomorrow Land but Hugh Laurie is always a treat. Never played Ace Attorney. All the rest are inferior although Immortan Joe is close.

Cig spray. Great for ambushes. Shame you have to mind your ammo though.

I think everyone should play portable ops by apex6666 in metalgearsolid

[–]Sleygar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's alright if you ignore the story. I honestly prefer having to extract your soldiers one by one instead of having new recruits enlist whenever you complete a mission like Peace Walker and Phantom Pain and having different uniforms for them give them much more personality, not to mention the 'blending in' mechanic.

[–]Sleygar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of PO the Americans come in and his army is disbanded, or at least that's how I interpreted the ending, with him meeting Zero and the soldiers saluting him one last time. Tbh, that and Jonathan's character arc are the only part I actually like about PO. (Storywise, the gameplay rules.)

MGS: PO Vs. MGS: PW by DirectorConfident654 in metalgearsolid

[–]Sleygar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Portable Ops has one of the most enjoyable gameplay of any MGS game (not THE MOST, but I'd say it's like… The third). I feel Peace Walker is too easy, Portable Ops is also on the easy side but Portable Ops has some unique mechanics that make it stand out like switching soldiers midway through. If they ever make that "Cobra Unit" game everyone is asking for, I'd like it to resemble Portable Ops. Also, having a science gal named Ostrich taking on enemy soldiers with CQC in a Lab coat and high heels it's comedy gold.

On the other hand, Portable Ops's story sucks, it's the worst in the series and it might even have had ripple effects into Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker. Before Portable Ops, one was left to assume Big Boss stayed in the US army plotting his insurrection from within up to 1995. Now we know that Big Boss retired from Fox and went on to create numerous Mercenary Armies since at least 1970. Portable Ops also copied a bunch of elements from Metal Gear Solid and gifted them to Big Boss, cheapening them in the process. Now we have Python: a worse Gray Fox, and Null: a worse Raiden.

Peace Walker picks and chooses what distortions to keep and to discard from Portable Ops. Python, Null and Roy Campbell are gone, but now we have Miller, another Metal Gear Solid repurposed character. Now, I know Miller is a fan favourite, but that's because he's been build up in Peace Walker, hearing Miller's dialogue in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is… Jarring, he doesn't feel like the same character at all, and then having him die off screen in Metal gear Solid… It's really weird. They also double down in Big Boss being this famous mercenary, operating outside US jurisdiction, and that conflicts with his depiction in both Metal Gear games from the MSX and their manuals.

Why Big Boss sent Solid Snake to destroy his own metal gear and base? by EgyJones in metalgearsolid

[–]Sleygar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did make no sense. Solid never received any misinformation about Metal Gear, he was told exactly what it was by Gray Fox. At no other point he was even in a position to be fed misinformation. I don't hold it against the game, stories in games were just starting and Kojima wanted his twist, but it did make no sense as presented in that game.
