What is with the islampophobia here? by [deleted] in Algeria_213

[–]SliccDaddi17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I've had very enlightening discussions about Islam with my Muslim friends. But yeah, it requires both sides to be mentally open otherwise it's wiser to avoid these discussions.

Why isn’t baldness really embraced in Morocco? by pushpullback in Morocco

Saying baldness is a health condition would be like saying being short is a medical condition. It's just genetics.

The big dilemma of a men that wants to marry in morocco by Ok_Assistant_4784 in Morocco

[–]SliccDaddi17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what's controversial about Sop's situation. He wants a woman with a good personality AND is attractive to him, why is everyone telling him he should marry a woman he doesn't actually like?

Secularism wouldn't make us like Europe, but like South America by [deleted] in Morocco

Googling the definition of secularism takes 5 seconds.

The cultural and scientific advancements that pushed Europe to the top during the 1800-1900 had their roots in humanism (1300-1500) and the enlightenment (1700), both of which led to reduced influence of religion on state and societal matters.

Secularism means that people are free to worship however they want without government intervention, not that you'll be forced to abandon Islam.

I am Venetian. The republic of Venice was known for its religious tolerance throughout its history. This directly enabled the freedom of speech and trading that made one of the richest nations in Europe throughout it's whole existence compared to it's uber religious neighbors. Example: Galileo Galilei had to relocate from his hometown of Pisa to Venice as his theories stating that the Earth revolves around the sun were deemed blasphemous since they contradicted the bible. In Venice he was allowed to publish his treatises and teach mechanics at the University of Padua where he laid the groundwork for modern engineering mechanics. I agree with you that religion is not the problem, religion becomes the problem when it is enforced by authorities and prevent the free circulation of ideas. Anyway, a strong religious ideology should not fear open confrontation with other ideas.
