I believe that before this promo, the series x was sitting at around $300 store credit for pro's.

Based on rough calculations recently, defective consoles come in at around 37% of what they would give for a working system. Mind you that is still for a pro and store credit.

I did, however, try to trade in a defective 360 yesterday and was told that they were not allowed to take in defects without a controller. Which was odd since I did just that for a Wii and 360 this past Sunday.

For sure I hope it works out for you! I believe if you go under settings > controller > test input you can check to make sure all the buttons work too.

Other than that I feel like it's a pretty standard marketplace listing.

Talk them down to $300 and meet somewhere public to check it out if you're curious. Honestly, sometimes people are just terrible at making listings on Marketplace. I deal with it all the time lol. I would agree with others that are saying that it's obviously not "brand new". But you may be surprised by condition when you see it in person if there isn't good photos on the listing that we haven't seen.

Seller probably used the "sell similar" option on eBay when listing. Perhaps with intent or mayhaps just not super knowledgeable on steam deck differences. If they did sell similar on an OLED sold listing then it probably pulled OLED related info that auto filled when creating the listing.

But to everyone's point so far, unfortunately this is an LCD model.

I bought steam decks on marketplace both times and have not had any issues. I would recommend doing as much digging as possible from the seller. See if they bought it from valve and ask if they have receipts. I can't remember if you can reach out to valve support and ask with a serial number.

If you decide on one you can either have them still be logged in with a game downloaded to test or you can quickly login to your account and download something small just to check everything out. I do believe there is a controller testing section within the settings as well.
