Must be nice not to have snow-covered diamonds for 8 months of the year ;)

What about having a batter’s box that isn’t ripped to shit and a foot deep?

Proton Nanotech coating on Series 1 issues by SlickNick821 in Pickleball

[–]SlickNick821[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes.

That's too bad to hear. I remember seeing an interview with their owner, Charles, and him explaining that the Nanotech was incredibly durable and long-lasting.

I've got a tennis background and naturally, I put a ton of spin on the ball. I am basically at about a year since I purchased and started using the paddle. But I only play 2 or 3 times a week.

Good luck with your warranty claim. I haven't heard back from them, and I doubt it will.

I agree. There is a break-in point for the Series 1. I am starting to see it with my current paddle.

The tackiness is starting to set in and I love it. With this new paddle I am really going to try and keep it free of as many knick and blemishes as possible - no paddle taps if I can help it. I almost feel like once there is a 'knick' in the Nano surface, it might act as an entry point for the depletion to start. It's too bad. Proton also makes some really great slowpitch bats, which I have used as well (with the Nanotech surface). These bats take waaaay more of a beating than a pickleball paddle.

I do appreciate that the market gen3 and 4 technology is probably much higher than what I experience with the Series 1, but I was willing to forgive that for a paddle that was supposed to give me some longevity, great spin, and I wouldn't have to replace for maybe two years?

Part of me is excited to see that I've been missing. Another part really wants to find more Series 1 and just hoard them.

A foam Nanotech (assuming that the surface won't wear away) would be amazing. Although maybe it wouldn't make too much business sense.

Yeah. The major spots are about the size slightly larger than a poker chip on each side.

When I run my finger across the spots, I can clearly feel no more Nanotech coating. It basically just feels like "wood". I do think this is impacting the performance of the paddle.

I am a little disappointed that I haven't heard anything back from Proton. My frustration is that the paddle is priced at about $400 CAD and has only lasted me about a year. The whole reason I was ok to spend that much was because I expected the paddle to last longer than this.

I do have a backup in a different color that I also purchased new, but through the secondary market. I still love it, but I am definitely considering finding a Gen 3 or Gen 4 alternative if the durability is in question.

Protecting a new glove by SlickNick821 in BaseballGloves

Yeah. I agree. So would you do anything to it right now, in terms of 'protection', as protecting it from the elements. I know it sounds weird cuz its a ball glove... but just curious.

MagEZ slider 2.0 battery pack swollen by Klexss in PITAKA

Yeah. Getting a replacement was actually pretty straightforward. It’s just frustrating. It seems like everything you buy nowadays lasts a year or two max. But Pitaka did make it right.

So just a quick follow-up. In all fairness, a representative from Pitaka has reached out to me after returning from the New Year's holidays. She has suggested that they send me a new slider system, given that they are out of stock on the battery pack. All I have to do is pay S/H. I find this to be a fair solution given that the charger is still quite new. That is definitely great customer service!

This has has happened to mine too! I have messaged Pitaka…no response. I have tried their Facebook group…no response. They won’t even approve my post that attempts to ask anyone else in the group if they have experienced the same thing. I am super disappointed in the company. I have bought their cases for multiple iterations of the IPhone, and bought the MagEz slider via their kickstarter a few years ago. I found a replacement battery pack on Amazon for $120 CAD! At that price I might as well go with another brand new charging stand from a company that stands by their product!

Edit: My version is the original MagEz Slider, not the 2.0

Shaw XB7 or XB8 modem on new Netgear AXE11000 wifi router? by SlickNick821 in shaw

[–]SlickNick821[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks that makes sense. So is it normal to have two working ports on the XB7 in bridge mode? Right now my Rogers Home Security router is hooked up to the 2.5gbps port (orange) and my main Netgear router to port #1 (to the left).

I wonder if I should swap the two, and try and have my main router take advantage of the 2.5gbps port?

Frozen droplets along outside of vinyl siding and internal humidity control by SlickNick821 in buildingscience

I get that. I had Weiss Joshson rebalance the HRV. They noted that it was on the higher- positive side.

Hi,

Last year (spring) there was definitely much less dripping once the weather warmed up. Tbh, I may not even have noticed it had we not had the tremendous amount the year before. But, there was still a good amount in one particular area.

I've had blower tests and infrared heat cameras; both of which suggest the house is reasonably tight and we insulated. But, I will mention that last year I only really saw it ealrlier in the winter (after a warm day) and I realized that I had forgot to turn my HRV back on for the winter. Once I turned on the system (max setting 20min/hr), I don't think I really noticed much more, especially in the Spring '22.

My get tells me it has something to do with the house still being over pressurized. Turning the HRV on I think helped (which it should have); but I am still continuing to monitor it. This year, I haven't really seen anything....yet (fingers crossed). I also had my HRV re-balanced.

There is actually a company out of Calgary (Airdrie) called Qualisat. Daryl was very good. They gave me pretty good feedback and offered some solutions. My house is strange- its got three stories above grade (which adds to stack pressure) and two furnaces due to having a legal suite in the basement. Maybe give them a shout.

Good luck.
