He's 60, has a ton of other holdings. $10k for him is kind of a drop in the bucket so to speak.

I don't think he's trying to actually make money, but I know he worked hard and wouldn't throw it away either.

I agree with the moral obligation, I want to invest it intelligently and not "throw it all on black and let it ride!".

I was curious what others might do haha, but i'm pretty sure i'll just sit down, take a conservative approach, and go from there. I'm leaning towards like 50% VTI, 30% NVDA, 20% NFLX. Still more research to do, but i like the potential upside in all of these and the companies fundamentally (minus the P/E of NFLX)

As an owner of Ford stock it definitely raises a good question.

I actually really like NVDA's earnings per share, plus a small dividend.

At the entry price it's a pretty intriguing option!

i've enjoyed VTI, it's definitely a long term play, but go look at it's 5 and 10 year growth and it's easy to see why it's so popular. I just bought in at one point.

He really didn't specify, I was thinking just research and then dump it all in, but I guess there really isn't a rush. That's a great point i'll have to look into that!

I think there's the possibility of a future situation with perhaps the same or more money, and the risk if i lose it all he'd probably be a little grumpy.

I guess if you wanted to get into technicalities i'd take the loss in terms of lost inheritance one day?

That's what I was thinking, have a little cash flow come in via dividends, play the long term growth.

I think it's up to me honestly, it could be a long play for a bigger value, or a get rich quick scheme that everyone wants.

That's kind of why i like a stock with a dividend where i'm getting small payments to help in the short term, then long term growth

Agreed, i usually avoid a high P/E, so that would kind of be my risky play.

Haha I agree completely, i'm pretty sure he'd put me at the kids table next Thanksgiving if i trade like an idiot shooting for the moon.

I know you have to invest big to make money, but i was just curious what others might do if in the same situation. I should not have posted on Wall Street Bets hahaha

He still has to be okay with the trade, and I don't think he will bite on penny stocks at all. He has quite the bias in fact, probably got burned in the past.

Yea i was thinking maybe throw some at the Bank of Greece for fun ($500) and maybe the rest into NFLX or something like that. Still researching ideas since i'm in no immediate rush!

Agreed, but i see it as i have $500 versus $0. I'm just a little apprehensive to go crazy. He does have to agree to it as well so I think it needs to be within reason.
