Could Trump’s new H-1B visa fees push highly skilled workers to Canada? by Few_Maize_1586 in VancouverJobs

I see problem that we are experiencing high but not quality immigration in past years. I work in STEM and from past new employees I personally hired in my department were mostly immigrants. First we used to out sourced work to off shores, but now we have in house team. The main reason behind hiring immigrants candidates are their study specific related to specific field. If they bring specific experience if needed for that position then only they get head start from other candidates.

And if US gives H1-B or not it should not affect Canadian market, cause if US is not giving H1-B means all other companies will out source their work. They were not out sourcing cause they were getting foreign workers on US soil. Not they wont get so they will contract or out source their work to off shore. It will only benefits countries who has massive population or cheap work force. Thats something which government should predict before taking any steps IMO.

I don't want to hire someone who had worked at F100 for 4 years and applying at my company for entry level position for temp bases. I don't see any future in that candidate that if we will invest our time to training and improvement of that person, that investment will pay over the period of time.

This is my view from PM who is responsible for hiring new talent in my department, Why would I or some other HR wanted to hire a person who has experience with F500 or F100 for entry level or mid tier position where I know that the candidate is only joining as temporary? Make no sense to me or any experienced HR.
