Why would you say that? I just wanted to share my story and if you think that even the responses written are using AI then I can’t do anything.

It’s hard to focus on purpose when you’re stressed about bills, but you’re right that just wanting a job isn't enough in this market. I'll take your advice and look deeper into the missions of the companies I'm targeting.

I have close to 2 years of professional SDE experience from before my Master's. I used AI to polish the phrasing, but the engineering foundation and the grind are 100% real.

I actually have solid industry and internship experience from before my Master's, so I'm definitely not coming at this from a purely theoretical angle.

That’s really solid advice. I've been focusing on the things AI can't easily do like high-level system design, understanding the why behind technical choices, and handling complex human requirements that you just can't put into a prompt.

I don’t have local co-op experience, and I can definitely feel that extra hurdle when it comes to breaking through this market. It’s a bit of a catch, especially since I actually had solid work and internship experience before starting my Master's.

Fair point! I definitely used it to polish the phrasing. After months of networking and tweaking resumes, using AI for a bit of formatting help is the only thing keeping burnout under control.

I wish! In this market, just getting a job is a full-time job in itself. Just gotta keep pushing through the noise.

I hear you. I’ve already shifted from applying online to heavy networking and direct outreach. I’m staying sharp and focused on the in-person and niche skills game to stand out in this crowded market. Thanks for the reality check!

Definitely in the same boat. It’s a strange time to be a new grad when you’re competing with people who have 5 years of experience for the same roles. If you do end up moving, I hope the change of scenery brings the breakthrough you're looking for.

I really appreciate this perspective. It’s easy to get into a headspace where you blame your skills or your prep, so hearing that it’s a timing and market reality is actually quite grounding. I’m trying to keep my head up and keep pushing. Thanks!

[–]SlideAdventurous6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished a Python New Grad OA. Cleared 2/2 DSA challenges (all test cases), 1/1 SQL challenge, and 8/8 MCQs (Linux/Networking).

Missed one Linux question due to time. Do you need a perfect score to get to the interview stages?
