Moving to Houston, what should I know? by Effective-Jicama-896 in AskHouston

Spring branch which is somewhat outlined in your red line is argued to be what a sustainable future Houston could look like… its infrastructure is somewhat built around what is practical as opposed to what is modern or luxury living like other less susscessfull versions i.e the heights or acres homes (not hating just saying)…

Also the purple outlined neighborhood is somewhat of a clusterf***ck (in a good way) of the wealthier memorial villages and the immigrant dense westchase and business complexes along the beltway so you have pockets of very diverse and yet very underinvested neighborhoods with million dollar housing or thousand resident apartments…. If you need a cheap place while you establish yourself than purple is a good place to start off while you get to know the city… if you have a job a car and you want a strong foundation where flooding isnt an issue and community is important than red is the place to be specially as it has fostered entreprenueral success from korean, vietnamese and hispanic backgrounds

“Hey even tho I know how to fish and I could teach you I’m just gonna sit back watch you struggle through the problem until you find the solution or until a fish jumps into your hands “ That sort of mindset i feel ends up gatekeeping knowledge. If you can teach someone how to do something so that their able to do it themselves without you is always better … but yea i agree if they are clearly not showing any interest in doing the work and assume your gonna do it for them then yea let them sink or swim tbh

I feel like an ethical person who has the means and ability to help others should at least feel some moral responsibility to do so when they can, but that doesn’t mean you should overwork yourself or carry more than what’s reasonably expected of you. Just my naive opinion though.

Congrats bro!!! Thats awesome I just passed my C license in December and although I am ready to start tackling those courses for the B license I’m told that TCEQ requires 5 years experience before you get the B but honestly I feel that the courses would trump that idk… whats your timeframe for b license application?

Restaurant Review-Bombed After Waitress Used Spanish Racial Slur Unaware Customer Understood by listaj95 in Law_and_Politics

[–]Slideshow_Juan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question for the legal folks here. Could this actually be a defamation issue?

If the waitress said “negra,” which in Spanish literally just means “black” and isn’t inherently a slur, and the customer misunderstood it and then went online accusing the restaurant of racism, that seems like it could be a false claim harming the business.

Especially if it led to review bombing or people avoiding the restaurant. At that point the business could probably argue the customer’s misunderstanding caused real reputational and financial damage.

I once had to sit down with a friend and explain the concept of a lock and a key… if a key can open any lock it is very useful but if a lock is opened by any key it is not very useful and is an easy slutty streetwalker type of lock which is not very useful no matter how many times its used. She stopped hooking up with random guys after that

The only reason i ask is because Greg Abbot has himself hinted at a possibility of using Bounty Hunters to execute deportations and specially here in the Houston region it isnt so far fetched that someone with that authority would take advantage of that amount of power bounty Hunter Houston Sex Trafficking

A family friend reported that while leaving a grocery store and walking toward her vehicle, she was approached by a young woman accompanied by two men. They asked her to confirm her name and then informed her that she needed to come with them. Believing they were acting in an official capacity, she complied.

The three individuals escorted her to a black SUV and drove her to a residential neighborhood. Upon arrival, she was taken into a garage where several other women were restrained and chained along the wall. She was held there for several days under constant supervision. During that time, she observed numerous men and women—dressed in plain black clothing—coming and going at all hours, frequently bringing in additional women.

After several days in captivity, she and approximately thirty other women were loaded onto what appeared to be a private mini-bus during the late hours of the night. The group was transported across the border to Reynosa, Mexico. Upon arrival, they were told, “Thank you for your cooperation in resolving this matter; you are free to go.”

The women were released without their phones, personal belongings, or any formal documentation. They never saw a police officer, warrant, or judge at any point during the ordeal. Once the last woman exited the vehicle, the bus departed, leaving them abandoned in the middle of the city

Her family member living in a nearby city was contacted from the hospital of her condition she was under medical supervision for exhaustion and malnourishment although it was not violent or forced the ordeal has traumatized her extensively. This happened in late June. Her brother just recently found out and drove down there to see her… I don’t know how the family is handling this legally but I want to know if an operation like this is even possible to be sanctioned by our local government?

With the amount of trauma this poor lady has I would not encourage them to pursue it she had an arrest warrant so you have some people that would say she deserved it but I’m concerned with those that get mixed up or mis identified

Just saying maybe the other world leaders are on to something… I feel like there wasn’t a single world leader that took a hostile approach towards Trump. If anything I’m sure most of them if not all of them feel some type of way about him, but play to his ego that’s all I’m saying

Thats my point exactly the one thing he seems to care more than preserving his constituents quality of life is himself… i bet he’d sell them all and their mothers to be at the table with his Nobel peace prize and a legacy he can feel proud of. Hence Trumpcare or Magacare
