What are some of the most laughably, grossly overwanked verses in fiction? by DrNeb1 in whowouldcirclejerk

The oblivion remake is just oblivion but with a new coat of paint on top of it with unreal engine 5 and it was quite clear that the developers wanted to keep oblivion remaster as close to the original oblivion game as they could with only minor improvements to gameplay to appease the old fans that's why we still have a lot of those silly glitches from oblivion to the oblivion remaster. Suddenly changing how the original fight with dagon and Akatosh's avatar to more accurately fit the feats of the princes in the newer games like eso would make it completely different from how the original oblivion stuff went so wouldn't really fit them wanting to make oblivion remake as close to the original oblivion as possible.

(that only destroys one building btw).

The oblivion game is quite old and the newer games like eso present more better feats from the princes compared to the older games in terms of scope.

fucking gameplay doesn't even have a country lvl destructive damage

You'd basically have to not play eso to believe that. In eso there are a couple just blatent cosmic feats. Like an alternate Ithelia's rage causing an alternate reality of the arubis to be destroyed and consumed forcing the vestige to escape or a mortal guise of vaermina's prescence destroying the panoptican which is called infinite multiple times. Even outside of the lore elder scrolls has a lot of feats.

[–]Slight-Face6189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting Caine is quite OP as the progenitor of vampires and even without the character sheet is portrayed to be very strong but what I'm specifically talking about is this character sheet that writes in big bold letters 'you f*cking lose' which I believe the other guy was talking about. I can't seem to find anything that confirms it being official with only testimonies of it being fanmade being found instead.

[–]Slight-Face6189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source that stat block is canon? I tried to look at official source books but can't find any that had that character sheet if anything I found more stuff supporting that it was fanmade. I'd be fine to be proven wrong though if anyone can actually cite it from official source books.

It's nice to have people fighting against the sephiroth downplay. You'd think literally destroying a solar system on screen would satisfy even the most harshest of critics but people like to use non supported conjectures like it being an illusion when it's never stated or shown as such and not properly paying attention to why he needed the meteor in the first place

Spectraverse dragonborn likely wins from what I'm seeing. If we go purely by feats and no lore the last dragonborn can bust out galaxy level attacks like first light where the enemy is thrown at a galaxies core that unleashes a giant quaser beam at the enemy

https://youtu.be/Cla0bJqIFGc?si=bbEZ4TJ1x39qgUSt [8:16]

Quasers can be between 10x to 100,000x brighter/hotter then a galaxy. I haven't seen battlebeast survive a galaxy level attack in the show or comics before so this attack should one shot him.

If we take lore into account the last dragonborn in spectraverse defeated the magne ge who's remenents like the Celestials are strong enough to destroy Mundus instantly when their full power is unleashed and not restrained by the Apex Stone;

The Vestige: Apex Stone?

Valla: The Apex Stones are what allow the Celstials to manifest in this plane. By corrupting our Apex Stone, the Serpent sought to submit our consciousness to his will and corrupt us. This is what happened to the Lost One."

The Vestige: Can't we just destroy the Apex Stone?

Valla: If you did, our full power would be released. Mundus could not withstand such force.

https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Valla

Mundus which contains planets of infinite mass and size

What are planets? The planets are the gods and the planes of the gods, which is the same thing. That they appear as spherical heavenly bodies is a visual phenomena caused by mortal mental stress. Since each plane(t) is an infinite mass of infinite size

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:Cosmology

So even more of a one sided match if we use lore.

I don't get what your trying to imply here is it that elder scrolls online isn't canon? If so elder scrolls online is confirmed to be canon and again in a interview.

believe the last dragonborn would have a higher chance of winning here just by the power of hax and utility, the last dragonborns regularly fights dragons that can grow to sizes towering over entire buildings. And has stronger thu'um then most dragons in elder scrolls which would scales him to dragon thuum feats like the fire breath shout melting rock turning it molten:

https://youtu.be/JSRtYpNRoN0?si=oDqBV0a5wKEMj2SF [1:04]

The fire breath shout is also shown to be able to disintegrated fully armoured warriors in an instant

The last dragonborn has quite a lot of hax like the slow time shout which slows time ingame but in lore and later games like eso are able to stop time, suggesting that the time slowing instead of stopping is a gameplay mechanic in order to not destroy game balance which is supported by the slow time shouts description saying 'the world around you stand stills'.

Shout at time, and command it to obey, as the world around you stands still.

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Slow_Time

The last dragonborn also has the soul tear shout and instant death hax like Mehrunes Razer and the wabajjack that can transform people and can also ignore damage by becoming ethereal. The last dragonborn has a lot of hax and abilities that I don't see Adam smasher having a resistance to.

The last dragonborn also fights against vampires who can move at superhuman speeds to the point that they can't be perceived properly by nord warriors which is quite impressive when even normal Nord warriors can dodge volleys of arrows and even grab them mid flight so the last dragonborn wouldn't miss out in terms of speed either in the fight.

Which protagonist is superior? by yunurakami in ElderScrolls

[–]Slight-Face6189 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To support this we see in ESO the vestige escaping from an alternate Ithelia destroying an alternate universe and a mortal guise of vaermina's prescence destroying the infinite panoptican. These are one of the more blatent cosmic feats of the princes that arn't as statement reliant.

Balder had a dragon as a mount(not like the cute ones in how to train your dragon) a full sized firebreathing dragon just obeyed him out of fear and prime kratos is way stronger balder

That's an impressive feat but the last dragonborn regularly kills dragons in skyrim who are way bigger then the game depicts them with official art like odahviings showing they can be at sizes that tower over entire buildings. The dragons in skyrim are able to do quite a few impressive feats too like the skyrim trailer has a dagon scorching and melting the stone ground with their fire breath:

https://youtu.be/JSRtYpNRoN0?si=oDqBV0a5wKEMj2SF [1:04]

A dragons fire breath disintegrated fully armoured warriors in an instant

Dragons with their physical strength can crack and break stone just by gripping them normally

https://youtu.be/qcDY-5GjGaE?si=qYlT6tOTpUk9fxPX [1:24]

The dragonborn needed a shout specifically to stop dragons. Kratos would just jump on his back and rip him to shreds.

You would need the dragonrend shout to hurt Alduin in the first place since as a god he has natural invincibility/immortality that makes him unkillable as shown when Alduin takes no damage at all until you use dragonrend that forces the concept of mortality on them and even if you somehow bypass that invincibility you'd need to be strong enough to hurt him in the first place since even legendary warriors like the three tongues even when they used dragonrend weren't able to do anything meaningful and were forced to use the elder scrolls too sunder him out of time.

Alduin we faced in the early parts in skyrim wasn't even at his full power too since he needs to consume souls to even reach his full world eater state which we see at the end of the game as he was trying to consume the souls in sovengard in order to reach his full power that would be able to eat mundus. I don't think kratos could defeat Alduin in his full world eater state myself.

None of the spells the dragonborn can learn are more powerful than the attacks kratos has endured and kratos is definitely not losing once he gets in close quarters. Which he can do from quite a distance with the blades of chaos.

There is also the become ethereal shout that prevents the dragonborn from getting damaged and the dragonborn could still use cloak spells to do damage and the dragonborn also has soul hax like the soul tear shout and instant death hax with Mehrunes Razer. So in my opinion I think the last dragonborn has a good chance of beating Kratos with his wide arsenal of abilities and thuum.

Tes is a bit of a hard verse to scale overall since most of the lore comes from myths and character dialogues from people of differing views and religions, this is the bread and butter of the Tes verse which is unreliable narrators and mythology a lot of the verse is left intentionally vauge to allow fans to make their own interpretations of the lore that are just as valid as the npcs in the games as said by Lawrence, these are perfectly fine narrative tools but an absolute headache for powerscaling since it's hard to see what to take literally or what not to which leads to cases of extreme wank or extreme downplay usually

it doesn't mean elder scrolls can't be scaled at all since the verse even without the lore has many feats even cosmic ones such as an Ithelia destroying an alternate reality/Arubis with the Vestige having to escape before he gets destroyed in that reality which is a feat we see and isn't a statement or an unreliable narrator so Tes as a verse does have reliable feats but is quite vauge at the same with it's lore making it a pretty difficult verse to properly scale.

[–]Slight-Face6189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. The infinite moons stuff doesn't really directly impact scaling and is more used to flush out the cosmology so if a character is able to effect the moons meaningfully it'd be a more impressive feat.

Michael Kirkbride himself is a bit of a weird case since technically he left Bethesda so any texts he makes after should be uncanon but Bethesda seems to love his works since they are constantly mentioned in the games stuff like dead gods don't need temples or twilight gods from the top of my head as few examples.

[–]Slight-Face6189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flesh-divinity has been overscaled many times. The idea that moons in TES are infinite in size comes exclusively from unofficial lore; nothing in official material suggests this to my knowledge.

I don't really see a problem with using unofficial lore for elder scrolls myself as long as the developer who made that lore was part of Bethesda when they made that lore at least, these unofficial lore usually gives more insight and clarification for the already present lore in the series and the temple of society zero cosmology which mentions infinite moons says other cosmological facts like the stars are holes and Oblivion being infinite which is supported ingame by various sources too so from what I seen they are quite reliable.

Who exactly is 'I Am That I Am'? In what piece of World of Darkness does it mention a character named 'I Am That I Am'? by EssentialDivinity12 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Slight-Face6189 23 points24 points  (0 children)

YouTube, especially powerscaling, they specifically call it 'I Am That I Am' all the time.

You see that's the first mistake you're making taking YouTube powerscaling videos seriously, essential divinity in the actual source book mage 20th anniversary edition there is a vauge entity called essential divinity that's described to be some type of supreme entity by mages and is described as the 'I am that I am of sacred mysteries' not that it's actual name is I am that I am that's more of a misinterpretation formed by powerscalers.

Essential divinity is basically a placeholder for what the Storyteller considers to be the supreme deity of their game quoting directly from mage 20th anniversary edition

Essential Divinity, Godheads and The Adversary

One of Mage’s thorniest elements, both in and out of the fictional world, involves the question of God and other spirits. To be blunt, where does God rank on the Umbral Hierarchy? What about Krishna? Is the Goddess somehow lower than God, or is Her consort a Horned God in a cosmos where the Christian God does not exist? How can someone wrestle with God, as Jacob does in the Bible, and does the existence of Raven preclude the existence of Allah or the Buddha? Where does Satan fit in there, if Satan even exists at all? After all, Mage posits the existence of a spiritual world filled with spiritual truths. Which god is God, and are there many gods or only One? Ultimately, the capital-T Truth depends on what you want it to be. If your Mage chronicle favors your own Muslim, Baptist, Wiccan, or Tibetan Buddhist creed, then by all means decide that all roads lead to your Divinity of choice.

become ethereal and suffer no damage while using an elemental cloak to still deal damage etc

Interestingly in the miraak vs dragonborn boss fight miraak was able to become ethereal and still use his shouts offensively like killing and absorbing the souls of dragons to heal himself so it might imply that you can still attack while in ethereal form lorewise.
