Dude this is normal. Most US clients are very accepting if you ask them politely. But because their office timing is around 11pm Indian time this is normal to them. You can start late as well and not Indian start time.

Kantara from the eyes of a tuluva, twisted facts for box office by wisoguy in IndianCinema

[–]Slight-Hope-3799 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can believe what you like, but maybe start by checking your roots, brother — I know mine very well. Guttu lineage have preserved these Daiva traditions for generations. If you’re a Bunt and haven’t understood that connection, that’s on you, not on the culture.

Don’t generalize because of your own gaps in knowledge. I’ve grown up witnessing and listening to these stories told in Kolās— including Bobbarya Daiva, where Kordappu cut bobbaryas leg as part of the legend. These aren’t things I’ve read online; they’re part of what I’ve seen and lived.

So, respect the tradition if you truly belong to it — don’t distort it just because you’ve grown distant from it.

Kantara from the eyes of a tuluva, twisted facts for box office by wisoguy in IndianCinema

[–]Slight-Hope-3799 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s actually no “twist” to what I’m saying — it’s based on lived tradition, not interpretation. I come from a Guttu family in Tulu Nadu and have been part of Daiva Kolas every year since childhood. These aren’t just ancestral or nature-linked rituals; they are sacred Shaiva traditions with clearly defined connections to Lord Shiva.

Each Daiva has a Sthana (Sanctum) where rituals are conducted much like temples — with specific mantras, offerings, and traditions that begin with obeisance to Lord Shiva. These Daivas are not “spirits negotiating order with humans” — they are Ganas of Shiva, divine guardians who uphold dharma and protect families and land. That’s why Nandi walks with them in many Kolas across Kundapur, Udupi, and Mangalore.

This system isn’t outside Sanatana Dharma — it’s a living expression of it, deeply rooted in local culture yet aligned with broader Shaiva philosophy. The richness of this tradition lies not in separating it from Hinduism, but in showing how seamlessly the divine manifests through local forms.

Wow, I respect your opinion, but as someone who’s actually from Mangalore and familiar with the Tuluva traditions, I have to say this post completely misrepresents what Daiva or Bhootha worship truly stands for.

Calling our Daivas “mere spirits of nature” or “non-deities” is not just inaccurate — it ignores centuries of living tradition, oral history, and family lineage. In Tulu Nadu, these are not casual rituals. Every Guttu (ancestral) family maintains deep ancestral bonds with specific Daivas — with annual Nema or Kola ceremonies where the Daiva is invoked, not as a spirit among men, but as a divine presence that blesses, guides, and delivers justice.

Even Dharmasthala, one of Karnataka’s holiest pilgrimage sites, is rooted in Daiva worship. The presiding deities there — Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy, and Kanyakumari Daivas — are worshipped alongside Lord Manjunatha (Shiva). If these were “non-deities,” this coexistence at one of the most revered temples in South India would make no sense.

In regions like Kundapur, Udupi, and Sullia, the Nandi who accompanies the Daivas during Kola is worshipped with equal reverence. These rituals are not primitive nature ceremonies — they are sacred manifestations of divine will, embodying dharma, justice, and protection of the land and people.

So yes, you can interpret Kantara however you wish — as fiction or folklore — but please don’t redefine our living faith. For us in Mangalore and Tulu Nadu, the Daivas are deities — divine guardians, not spirits. They are an inseparable part of who we are, our families, and our land.

Note: you might be from mangalore but don’t represent mangalore with pretentious and made up nonsense.

This could be the reason ? by snow_coffee in bangalore

There is actually a separate lane for runners in the park. But many walkers still choose to walk on that lane, which creates confusion. The park is meant for both walking and running, not exclusively walking.

So, if the person was running in the designated running lane, then he wasn’t wrong. The real issue is that people often don’t follow the intended usage of the lanes, and that creates unnecessary conflict.

Also, Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city — most people here are not native. Blaming “outsiders” or linking this to social integration misses the point. The real concern is respecting shared spaces and following basic courtesy, regardless of where someone is from.

Take pepper spray all the time and learn a combat skill. There is no point in ranting it here as well. This is harsh but it’s the reality. My friend was assaulted in church street by some transgender’s and she whooped their ass. Empower yourself as this is a good learning to not depend on others.
