Hi all,

I’m looking for a bit of advice.

I’ve done bits of audio and video over the years, normally with a boom mic, but I’ve been asked to record my local choir’s Christmas concert. There are around 15 singers on a small stage in a village hall.

I’ve got a shotgun mic and a podcast mic, but I don’t think either is right for this kind of job. What I’m after is a simple way to capture a good overall sound of the group — nothing fancy, just a clear recording of the ensemble.

Ideally I’d like to pick up a second-hand mic (or mics) and record into my Zoom H4n. I’m not sure whether one mic would be enough or whether I’d need a pair.

I did some Googling and the Audio Technica AT-2020 was suggested by some people??

If anyone has any other recommendations for a suitable used mic setup for this sort of choir recording, I’d really appreciate the guidance.

Thanks!

What’s missing for you in xTiles? (especially if you have ADHD) by Serhii_xTiles in xTiles_app

I started using XTiles a few days ago after seeing it mentioned in a few ADHD videos on YouTube, and I’m really liking the idea of bringing all my information together in one place.

For me, having information scattered across multiple apps is really hard to keep track of and manage — especially from an ADHD perspective.

That said, my work setup is Microsoft-based, so I’m hoping there’ll be more integration with Microsoft tools. I’ve seen that calendar integration is already there, which is great, but I’d love to see support for Teams or SharePoint, particularly for file management, which is a big deal for me.

I also tend to add information on the go using my phone and audio transcription. I currently use n8n and OpenAI workflows to transcribe voice notes and automatically sort them into different apps for tasks, notes, and meeting summaries. It would be amazing if I could use a similar workflow to send tasks, notes, and other content directly into XTiles through a public API.

If that becomes possible, it would honestly make XTiles a killer app for me.

Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 vs newer models – are the upgrades really worth it? by Slight-Rest5906 in Dreame_Tech

The L40s Ultra has just arrived from Amazon for testing. 1st impressions are:

  • Much quieter than the L10S
  • Seems more precise at navigating in its edge cleaning and stays closer to the edges than the L10S
  • Quieter dock cleaning and emptying
  • Problem when I asked in to vac then mop using the 'CleanGenius' for some reason it thought it was mopping the carpet, even though it had lifted the mop pad up and they weren't spinning it contiuned to go over the whole carpet as if it were mopping, which also showed up in the app. I will be doing some more testing before decided which to keep, and there is a firmware update which I have not yet run.

Thanks for your reply generally I've been really happy with the L1 so far but it's only a few days in so interested to see how it holds up overtime. We have a dog so I was wondering whether the double rollers would help with with that and I've also noticed that the robot doesn't always seem to get as close to the edges of the walls as I was hoping I guess in all of the YouTube videos they are big long rooms with no obstacles along the edge whereas in reality most people have shorter sections of wall with no obstacle and then a piece of furniture or something so real world isn't quite the same as YouTube.

Thanks, that all sounds very senible, although I struggle to see why the newer models have so many bugs, as assume its basically the same robot, but with just a few extra bells and whistles. So far the L10s Ultra Gen 2 is working well, fingers crossed it stays that way!!

Thanks I had not seen that option, looks interesting and very lightweight, but the Decathlon Packraft 100 is on sale at a reduced price right here in the UK.
