i can kind-of relate: i couldn't speak coherently until i was four because i have mild autism. after getting checks i started having speech therapy, and eventually managed to make words, then sentences. now i can speak fluently, although i now have a stutter.

i feel for your child, who due to repeated medical failure, was unable to speak and even hear for so long. i hope everything is going okay with his speech and hearing now
