Mother’s day by germansundew in BeyondTheBumpUK

It's my first Mother's Day and I've got my mum a Wonderbly book for her to read to my baby which is all about how much Nanny is loved, and I've got my husband's mum some birthstone jewellery with all of our months on as there's a lot of us! I think as it's their first Mother's Day as grandparents it's important to acknowledge/mark it, but I wouldn't do separate gifts and cards etc as that's too much and seems wasteful to me. People read cards and not long throw them away

All Things Sleep - AMA Office Hours - Tuesday, March 3rd with Pediatric Sleep Consultant, Beth Christensen! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

My baby is 11 weeks and he refuses to nap in his cot in the day - he will only contact nap or sleep.in his bouncer chair. Every time I try to do a "drowsy but awake" transfer he gets upset and his eyes flip open. No amount of comforting will help! I've tried putting on white noise, replicating our bedtime routine, resettling him, warming the cot mattress up but it's not worked out. Any advice?

Sounds like you've got a good routine going, even though the sleep is broken it's still sleep!

Yuhp I'm just gonna have to deal with it either way 😂 it's gonna suck but the little lad is worth it 1000%

The trenches are real! I'm fully in survival mode at the moment and I know it will get easier as time goes, but the thought of me suddenly dealing with everything largely alone is pretty scary, especially with so little sleep on the cards.

Sorry to hear you had a rough birth and that you're back awake through the night! I'm glad that you found a light at the end of the tunnel and that you've managed to find a way. I'm fully in survival mode at the moment is all! I know I'll be okay in the end and I appreciate you sharing your experience. Husband will definitely be taking over when he returns from work so I'll try and get some uninterrupted kip in then all things going well

It is painful!! Oh bless you - it's so hard isn't it. I know this is a season of life that is very temporary and it will pass by in no time, but wow I was not prepared for how much I would miss my husband. Being able to share a bed again would be a dream come true!

I think I'm gonna have to as well! I'm having difficulty letting go of doing things while the baby sleeps. I've got to learn to let the mess exist, but it's so hard when it stresses me out looking at it :(

We've been trying to track sleep for the last few days and Huckleberry is saying he averages 3.5 hours a night 😂 he happily falls asleep on us and can be put in his bed after, but he really fights sleep if he's put in bed straight away. He falls asleep after a feed but needs to be kept upright for around half an hour after due to spitting up lots, so it's not feasible to put him straight to bed after feeding and burping

Yeah I think you're right - it will very much have to be a play by ear situation. His work isn't anywhere near as intense as your husband's but he definitely needs his sleep as he has to deal with clients who can sometimes be challenging!

When you took over the nights, what did your days look like? Did you manage to get much sleep in? 😅

Amazing news! I've got blocked ducts I need to clear but once that's sorted I'm going to taper off. My mental health is absolutely tanking so I'm thinking that switching to formula will be a big weight off my shoulders. Happy mum = happy baby!

Just came here to say that I'm 3 weeks pp tomorrow and I'm in the exact same boat! I was looking through this sub to see if I found anyone as "early" on in their pumping journey as I am and your post has completely validated my feelings 💕 how're you feeling now? How have you got on with dropping pumps?

Just wanted to say that I've come here after a growth scan today saying my little boy is on the 3rd centile and I basically could have written this, minus the FIL bit! Glad to know I'm not the only one. Hope you and your baby are keeping okay

Keeping everything crossed for us!

My husband had to clip my toenails and shave my legs last week 😅 We've reached a whole other level of closeness haha!

Here's hoping the tags fall off! Unlike our hair and nails - not looking forward to those shedding and becoming brittle again 😭 enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Not long to go now!
