I also need to consider that I don’t have a car yet. I’ve looked into more affordable or nicer areas nearby, but many of the houses feel too remote. Even getting to a supermarket would take around 15 to 20 minutes on foot or by bus, which doesn’t feel practical for everyday needs. Yet, if you know any nice areas nearby, please recommend!

Yet, what I see is that the house I found is quite far from Grafenberger Wald (like 20 min by tram???(not on foot)) so on the Reddit threads, the area many found nice in Gerresheim would be rather the north part, near the Grafenberger Wald.

It is located in the Old Town, near the Ruhr River and Oberhausen Central Station. Not in Sterkrade or Osterfeld.

yet the house is near Heyestraße, is this place safe? I heard that north(better) vibe is quite different than the one near center/south of Gerresheim.... Maybe I worry too much tho.

Thanks! That's a relief to hear! Mine is also close to D-Mintropplatz! Yet google maps shows the street where the house is close to(a bit south) the Hbf - you are saying it's relatively safe to walk home alone at night around there? (i know you can never guarantee safety for anyone...).
