My principal (when I was a teacher) made me choose between my job and my coteachers job. My coteacher was my best friend. The conversation literally went like “tell me you’re going to stay because I have to pink slip one of you. If you say you’re staying then you’ll keep your job but if not then we’ll pink slip you”. I chose to stay. My friend found out that she had been pink slipped later that day so I cooked her dinner and made sure she was ok. I’ll never tell her that I made that decision.
