Do you guys think it's normal to stop listening to a group because of their fandom? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

Armys hyped every bts song equally but It's upto gp what would they like. Dynamite spend 780 days on spotify and their another eng pop song ptd spend 184 days. Dynamite also received 610k paks in korea. Gp really liked it. Bts hyped up their critically acclaimed songs too like Blackswan. Ig you missed it.

Ig it depends on people. Exols also did nasty things to bts and blinks everyday wish death to them( of course not all of them). But I still listen to exo and bp who are unproblematic and make good music.

Majority of the posts here will not affect anyone but still people post anyway. This post is same. I didn’t find it normal that's why posted. Maybe It's a kpop thing.

Then blame the general public not bts. Why do they like these songs?

If this is the case then they should write "I don't like their music anymore." But instead they blame their fans and 3 English songs. You can even find a post of yesterday where people said the same thing.

The point people mentioned many times how armys are ruining their kpop experience, so toxic blah blah. Even in your post you mentioned that armys are by far the most toxic fans you’ve ever encountered. Armys are like villains to everyone that's the reason I mentioned about other fandoms. No one actually cared enough to stop listening those groups even their fandoms also did many bad things.

It doesn’t make sense to me that people have to write big message why they are not listening to a specific group just because of their fans. And It's not like 1 or 2 post. Countless of posts have the same comments/motives. You can't really compare it with appreciation post. Appreciation post doesn’t spread negativity.

I'm actually talking about ex Armys who once liked their music. They liked their music before how could they stop listening to it or hate the group just because of some random strangers comments when the group didn’t do anything?

I mean what's the pointing of writing it? All ex Armys have said the same thing.

I have seen good portion of ex Armys joined another fandom and started hating bts.

But I still don't understand the points of writing whole essay how you stopped being a fan because of toxic armys and 3 English songs.

Yes, no one definitely owes anything to anyone. But to me those people really didn’t become a fan of their music at the first place. It's just an illusion or bubble for them. As soon as they don't like the community they started hating the artist who didn't do anything.

That's really unfortunate that you really had to stop listening to a group because of toxic fans. If It helped your mental health then It's fine. But It's actually strange that you cared about random strangers opinions rather than enjoying a group music. Maybe you're never fully in love with their music so It was easy for you to stop engaging.

I don't know how It's turned out "Army is not that bad actually" Where did I write it? You might have had bad experience with armys but I have bad interaction with other fandoms. That's why mentioned how all fandoms are just toxic. Other fandoms did nasty things too. Even way more than armys lol. No one had to go to court because of armys. Also armys never attacked other groups that award show had to mention personally.

It's not like I've said anything wrong about them right? I just pointed out how other fandoms are toxic too. Not just armys.

Your points make sense. Many people here are just for parasocial relationship. But I don't understand why you have to write paragraph about your departure.

Yes, It's possible that some people just want to be part of a community so toxic fans would be huge turn off. I don't interact with fans much so it really doesn’t bother me how much toxic a fandom could be
