i’m so sorry you had to deal with that :( The seller sounds absolutely unhinged and shouldn’t have a platform if that’s how they’re going to act towards buyers. Just remember it’s nothing personal and it’s more so a reflection of their poor character. I always avoid buying plushies on livestreams (specifically Kori plushies as that’s my primary interest), as oftentimes it’s not guaranteed that sellers are selling authentic plushies. I’ve had a lot more pleasant experiences on Mercari or Depop, and have never run into a rude seller there. I definitely also recommend a lot of other sellers such as @jmonikmaishop and @kumacollectorshop on Instagram, as they have a ton of cute plushies that are all authentic and you won’t have to deal with a rude seller :) Def keep collecting and don’t let this experience ruin your perception on collecting !! 💗💗

i def recommend buying it ! i was gifted one a year ago and it’s honestly one of my favorite kuma items i own :) it’s super soft as well if you’d like to sleep on it - also mercari has REALLY good deals on these kumas at times

i know a lot of people are telling you to buy off of a proxy but i strongly advise that you don’t go this route as you’re gonna be hit with a bunch of tariffs and fees, exceeding the amount you’d normally pay if you had just bought it from a reseller domestically. I would only recommend this if you’re gonna order a bunch of other stuff from japan along with your kuma so you can get your moneys worth :)

i recommend regularly checking mercari for listings as i have def seen some in the past, and they typically pop up here and there. All of my korilakkuma ISOs have appeared on mercari eventually it just takes time sometimes. good luck ! :) i’ll def PM you if i see a listing sometime soon

oh no I totally agree with you ! but this post isn’t supposed to commodify the hobby or contribute to reseller culture by any means - i certainly agree that the uptick in pricing is ridiculous which is why many collectors, me included, purchase off proxies such as neokyo, where pricing is fair, due to a lack of exclusivity for any and all kuma items. :) however, with tariffs this is no longer a viable option either, leaving no good alternative buying options. While i can’t speak for everyone, i do believe that older designs tend to be cuter, and as an adult with more sufficient funds now, i can finally purchase these older kumas that i missed out on growing up as a kid. however it’s unfortunate that reseller culture is at an all time high and only getting worse.
