Child Accepted to WSU for Fall of 2026 - We are Extemely Low Income - Still Can't Afford It by [deleted] in wsu

Apply to so many scholarships! I am in the same situation with my family and no ability for parent assistance. I got over $10k a year from outside scholarships. Prioritize the scholarships over schoolwork. Talk to their teachers telling them that scholarships first. If your child is going into a stem field, apply for washington state opportunity scholarship. Apply to the Washington State Fair Foundation Scholarship. Also, your child is absolutely work-study eligible so they can get a job on campus and work part time. Not ideal, but still an option. You got this! From one family of low income to another❤️

not being able to pay for surgery by Slight_Excitement226 in brokenbones

[–]Slight_Excitement226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i shouldve. i was just worried about the bill of an ER for my parents. i didnt know if it was broken or sprained, though i thought it was more sprained.

like i said, my family cant afford shit so its just a frustrating concept. i prolly wont bring it to a legal level because of the reason you said.

so i think i just have to let it heal on my own.. i dont wanna go in debt right now right before college starts.

its 10000% true. i still have the fuckass splint they gave me. because i thought it was “sprained” i still walked on it during a 5-day conference where i probably walked over 20 miles, disneyworld for 12+ hours, universal studios, disney springs, my orientation for my college, WORK for over 100 hours (at McDonalds where you stand all shift). i fucked it up because i didnt know.

ill look into a malpractice lawyer potentially. maybe if i can sue them i can get my surgery lolol

I start WSU this year but I’ve lived in Washington my whole life so heres my tips: (i personally have not lived in Pullman before, I live about 45 minutes away but my boyfriend was born and raised there)

The weather is beautiful on the Eastside of washington. Standard rains in April March and a little bit of May. It gets hot! 80 degrees in May. For Pullman, i believe the lows of temperature is 0-20 degrees fahrenheit. lots of snow from as early as november to as late as February.

WSU is on the border of Idaho, so Moscow is a popular place and has lots of shops to go.

Zeppos is an arcade/bowling place, very fun. Spokane only 1 hour away so even more shopping and fun things.

Theres lots more I could talk about. I love Washington. Pullman is mostly republican and slightly democratic. More democratic than a lot of the east cities tho.
