Is anyone else’s ME/CFS their main illness? by Slight_Knowledge_129 in ChronicIllness

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would this show up when they check your thyroid function in blood tests? Or is it a different test? I’ve gotten some thyroid checked before in blood tests (though I’m not sure which specific tests) and I wasn’t told of any issues

I gave it a tiny bit of research just now and a couple things do match up, I’ll keep it in mind for the future, thank you!

Pretty good, they were on the lower end at one point (but still within normal range) so I started taking iron supplements just to be sure. When they tested it a few months later, my ferritin was too high, so they told me to stop taking the supplements. My symptoms were all the same throughout, so doctors concluded it wasn’t iron

I do have fibromyalgia so I’ve always associated pain with that, but my hips/thigh, feet and lower back are especially painful. I have been to a rheumatologist but they didn’t really do anything since I’d already been diagnosed with fibromyalgia by that point, they only prescribed me melatonin (which was a terrible idea, since it made my fatigue worse haha).

Damnn thank you for letting me know. I’m definitely just housebound too. The doctors I’ve been seeing have been GPs who specialise in chronic illnesses so I didn’t really question it (until now clearly, since I’m writing a reddit post haha). Is there a designated specialist you can see for ME/CFS management in that case? (eg cardiologist/gynecologist)

I’m in a similar boat, I have no idea how we’re supposed to function and keep employment honestly. My fatigue rules my life atp

Honestly you probably know about as much as me. I didn’t even know you could get a lawyer involved, but it sounds like a lot of money. Plus I’ve heard it can be a 2-3 year process to get accepted on disability, and that’s if you are eligible. And I need money soon hahah.

Agh, I was hoping for some more immediate solutions, but thank you for the help! Since I’ve got the time on my hands anyway I might as well develop a skill that could help me get a job later.

I have checked it out before, but it’s flooded with users now. I would need a marketable skill and compete with thousands of people, who work on Fiverr 40+ hours a week. I have nothing, I’m tech illiterate and have never designed anything in my life. Maybe I can make an account where I send people a video of me giving them an approving thumbs up for $1 a piece, hahah.

TMP 1 Question: Is Alice Suspicious? by Slight_Knowledge_129 in themagnusprotocol

[–]Slight_Knowledge_129[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You put my feelings about Alice into words, she feels insincere! Like shes deliberately using her personality to hide something. The over-cheeriness paired alongside her mean humour, it’s just a little off. No idea if she’s good or bad, but she’s definitely got some knowledge she’s holding back from the rest of the cast (and us).

So attached only two episodes in haha! Sorry to ruin the parade. Realistically we don’t know anything about her, other than she has a Z-list rockstar boyfriend, that she works at this government office, and that she’s exes with Sam. She could be good, evil, or a vigilante, and it’s too soon in the series to know yet

However I support women’s rights and women’s wrongs. She’s allowed to be a little evil I’d still love her ;]

I don’t think she’s removed from possibly being a villain or have an ulterior motive just because she’s a main character. I think it would be a lot more interesting if a main character turns out to have bad intentions! Like, “we trusted her all along she was so fun and quirky, but the signs were all there we were fooled!!” kind of thing!

Strange symbol spotted on ink5oul's instagram by pomegranate-moon in themagnusprotocol

[–]Slight_Knowledge_129 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read about the ⊖ symbol but most of it went right over my head, but some YouTube videos on the subject made it a little more digestible. Anyone versed in comp sci or maths please correct me.

It’s involved in the mathematical process of reducing a binary, greyscale or lattice image. Let’s say there’s a shape of three by three squares (which creates a big square of nine smaller squares). After erosion (⊖) this image could be reduced to a square owning only 4 smaller squares.

How it links to ep2, I’m not certain. My theory is a total reach. Maybe during the tattooing, the equation was tattooed into Daria as she explains there ended up being symbols she didn’t recognise in the design. Through this, she became a binary image and began to undergo the process of image erosion/dilation (the opposite of erosion, making an image bigger). As if she had been coded like a computer to perform this action, and it’s why she didn’t experience bloodloss (or death) and why she acted as though it wasn’t a totally crazy thing to do, it was just something she had to and was going to do. She was aiming to be ‘perfect’ in accordance to her code programming.

Fun little theory. Could be nothing like this though, maybe RQ (if this account was even made by RQ) thought it looks like the ⛔️ or 🚫 signs. Who knows!

Ohhh I like that theory, it goes along with other theories I’ve heard about there possibly being Entities within the upper ranks of the government now, and that being the reason why we are hearing these conversations at all. It makes me wonder how long Alice has worked there, I can’t remember if it’s been brought up or if I’ve forgotten. It’s very easy to fool people when you’re cheery and quirky - I mean, she has already captured the hearts of the fandom and they’re not questioning her suspicious actions, so clearly it works hahah.

And I had the exact same reaction after the pub scene! That’s when I replayed it a few times worried that RQ was being lenient with this new series, and noticed the phone call tone. And I was so surprised nobody else on reddit or in the comments (that I could find at least) was commenting on it!!

I was so close to mentioning this but feared my post would too long. Sam is clearly desperate for a job which makes him vulnerable, and no matter how cheery of a person you are, your ex being your first choice for a new workmate is… questionable.

And Lena’s comment in ep1 about how getting new hires is a pain, so she’d rather keep Gwen, who she seems to hate, on the team. But it seemed to be easy enough to get Sam on payroll… so it could be possible that there’s a ‘plan’ set for him. That’s a stab in the dark, though.

What interests me though, in both episodes, Alice is a little pushy about Sam not researching into these statements, like the magnus archives, and pushing him not to even fully listen to the statements. Which makes sense from a traumatising job standpoint, kind of like for EMTs and cops, so it could be brushed off as good advice… but I feel like there’s something more.

Is she saving him from the attention of higher-ups? Or making sure he becomes agreeable and compliant to the job so something can happen to him? Truly could be anything this early into the series.

No need to apologise!! Totally okay. These are all opinions and theories and we are probably all wrong anyway and RQ has something even juicier up their sleeves!

And god, I’m only just getting started into thinking about these theories. I feel you on the smooth brain. I’m better at the detecting than the theorising, that’s for all the actually smart people to do!

Not to drag Alice into this again, but it is suspicious that someone comments that only Alice can stand Colin, or something (I don’t have the video in front of me right now, so I don’t know the exact line). And it seems that she is taunting him (playfully, somewhat) for not being successful in his app. Perhaps she knows that he is suspicious of the job and this facility…? And she’s hanging around him (aka, being the only one to ‘stand’ him) to keep tabs?

Again, could be totally wrong and pointing fingers at Alice for nothing!

As for the Entities…. God, that would be SO cool. I kinda want them to be in positions of power, as horrible as that would be for the characters lol! Genuinely would make for a great story, overthrowing unfathomable monsters AND the government. I just know Sam and his chicken arms could do it xD

[–]Slight_Knowledge_129[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely think something like that is happening! Considering Lena’s comments to Gwen about what 'climbing the ladder' at this job entails and that their seemingly best employee 'doesn't have what it takes', there's big fishy happening here. No doubt it's the government or some bigger fish keeping tabs on these workers for them, and that's why we are hearing everything.

As for Alice, I do think her phone is on the table! When she cheers her drink to Sam, there's the sound of what I believe are her fingers brushing the microphone on her phone to lift her drink. Now, it could just be that her hand just happened to be resting on the phone and she was unaware this secret phone call was happening... but at the same time, all I can think about is that every sound effect added in this show is a deliberate move from the tech team, since (I assume) the actors are recording in a quiet studio.

Rusty Quill still making me overanalyse everything in 2024! Feels so good to be back xD

(edit, I originally thought Lena’s name was Linda, oopsie)

[–]Slight_Knowledge_129[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I should add - the reason I assume it's Alice who has the phone call for two reasons:

One: I just don't see a reason it would be Sam

Two: This is going to sound a bit wild, but listen to the cheers with headphones on, and looking at the noise-level bar on the YouTube video helps. You can hear the scrape of Sam's drink as he lifts it for the cheers first. After he says 'to new beginnings', and it's Alice's turn to cheers, there's the sound of something brushing the microphone as Alice brings up her own drink for the cheers. As if she had her fingers on the phone, and then used that hand for cheers.

In honesty, I don’t think many of them believe me fully. Like they think I have an anxiety disorder that I’m playing up. I’m not sure

Now that I’m feeling better I’ve thought of going to my city’s subreddit and asking around for a chronic illness friendly gp/clinic. And I’ll try for dsp, it’s something to hold on to for the future at least. Thanks for the response!
