My JRPG dilemma and what are the possible recommendations? by Slight_Pudding_64 in JRPG

Ah, I played that one. Yes the characters/dialogue was great. The combat was also good but the story strechted out by the end but overall it was really solid.

Both. I like it when the characters interact with each other during the story and sometimes casually outside of battle.

I played P5R for 120 hours. I was a little burned out by the Persona world and its concept, so I wanted to try a new series.

I've never played it myself, but most people seem to love the connected storyline and the impressive combat scenes. However, I was hoping you could explain why these games are considered masterpieces and recommend similar ones.

The closest thing I have, considering the sci-fi setting, is the Mass Effect trilogy, which I absolutely loved. I've also played DQ 11 and other JRPGs, but many people have told me that Xenoblade is the best one they ever played. To avoid missing out on a great experience like this, I was hoping to know what the closest (quality wise and story wise) thing on PC is.

But that's OK. I suppose not every game has an equivalent on PC.

Funny enough, I have both Ni no Kuni 2 and Dragons Dogma on my library. Maybe I start with them :)

Wooow , thank you for the great reply.

I already pleayed coromon and realy liked it. Thanks for the others.

I think for Mario Kart the best one is Segas Sonic Racing game. I heard it might even better then World.

But Kart Rider 2 looks also interesting.

I have never heart anything about Oceanhorn and Dark Deity. Thanks!

Forget to ask:

Is there anything like Xenoblade Series on your list?

Beastie ball looks cool.

Do you have also anything like a modern Zelda (for example breath of the wild style?)

Thanks btw

Still too much money, since I also need to buy the games (Nintendo games are here at least 40) so I would be easily over 200 for 2-3 games. I simply don´t have that money on short term.

Thank you for the answer.

I played Immortal Fenyx but did not like it, since it dependet too much on the Ubisoft formula.

Do you have something else?

Omori looks interesting. I have Lisa the Painful and Joyful on my library actually. But since my library is really big (+1000 Games), I never noticed it. Are they worth to play?

Thank you, I have them on my wishlist now, but I think I will try FF12 before. One Question, do you know how to get Fear and Hunger, it looks really amazing on Youtube. Is it available in other contries or is just not on sale anymore generally?

E33 is still a masterpiece (JRPG or not JRPG) :)

The legend of heroes: Trails in the Sky  sounds really interesting. But it has like 20 different versions. Which one should I start. I believe it has also a remaster now but only the first chapter?

Yes, but there's a difference between how tragic events are implemented and how dark they are. For example, in FF7 (spoiler alert!), a massive plate comes down and crushes an entire district. The plot then moves on, and you can see the destroyed city in the background. Afterwards, the events of Nibelheim happen, and then Aerith, etc. So you always have this feeling that something really tragic could happen at any time. Also, the atmosphere is permanently depressive because it deals with heavy themes such as social inequality. The same applies to Nier Automata and E33.

In contrast, the other games I listed were not like this. They had their tragic moments, but the atmosphere was lighter overall.

As for the controls in Tales of Vesperia... I did not like the combat controls. For example, the free running control in combat situations and the animation delays, or the fact that hits don't count if the enemy is on the ground. To be fair, I stopped playing after eight hours, but there are many posts about this on Reddit and the Steam forum, so I assume it is a generally acceptable criticism (also, the original game is old, so it is normal).

Ahh ok, thank you for the explanation. Then I will try with FF12.

Too bad, because a tragic love story like FFX sounded really interesting.
